At the Matador, tequila is more than a beverage—it’s an integral part of our culture. It is who we are. We immerse ourselves in it. We know the landscape and the people who make a difference within it. We love everything about tequila, and we enjoy sharing our knowledge, to help our guests appreciate it as much as we do.
Must be 21+.

Outstanding! Beautiful inside with lovely music. Isaiah is a fabulous server!
I ordered tortilla soup with no cheese or tortilla strips. A mocktail called “Cranberry Ponche”. (Ingredients are listed in my photos)

Yummmmm. I think we found our go to date night spot! Everything here was so so so good. Our waitress Dara was so sweet ! It was a darker setting which I loved. The booths were nice and roomy. I loved that they actually still serve you free chips and salsa… you dont find that often anymore. The drinks were reasonably priced and really good. Food came out fresh and hot. Cooked perfectly. Can’t wait to go back and try now items! Oh they do to-go cups for unfinished drinks too!! Bill was only 120 for all you see in pictures.

I love the Matador. It’s a perfect date night restaurant. Really good food, good drink menu, nice atmosphere. It’s very pretty inside, pretty dark in a nice way. I’ve loved everything I’ve ordered. I have a tiny complaint, the QR code menu has an image in it that obstructs it, so I end up googling the menu. But everything that really matters is excellent.

Friendly staff, tasty food and drinks, and good wait time! I personally got the first option burrito (one with mild sauce) and a Passionfruit Margarita, and my partner got one of their sandwiches with the BloodOrange Margartia! (Sorry forgot the names of our dishes). Also note that their margaritas are a bit of the stronger side tequila wise but my partner disagrees. Highly recommend!
Atmosphere is a cool woodsy rustic with a hint of western, it’s pretty awesome IMO.
Note: A bit on the pricer side but everything we had was newly/freshly made!

We had a late dinner here on a Sunday night after driving . They need to provide a warning on the hot sauce. My wife put it on her taco, and after the first bite, she could not taste the rest of her tacos. Nice service, waitress, & atmosphere. The waitress said she had also said they needed to list a warning.

Courtney is a really great bartender. Always attentive to us while we’re dining. This is the best happy hour in Seattle. Prices hasn’t changed much since 2010, that’s how long I’ve been coming here.

If you enjoy authentic Mexican food and have lived anywhere like Texas, New Mexico or Southern California, you will be disappointed by this place. I have been about six or seven times because I used to live near the border and crave Mexican food, so I have enough experience to leave a solid review.
My honest opinion is that if you’re craving Mexican food, then this is your best option in West Seattle. But stick to the classics like enchiladas, quesadillas, or tamales if they have them. Any other more authentic or adventurous options are not worth it.
Do not do takeout here. I have had awful experiences and my most recent one sums it up. I walked in to grab a drink at the bar and place a carryout order. The bartender never brought me my drink, but attempted to charge me for it. They did not put chips and salsa in the to go order and brought it to me at the bar with my takeout order as if I was going to eat it there. When I asked to get it to go, they gave me a frustrated look and brought me containers instead of packaging it up.
Overall, the vibe and atmosphere is decent and there’s a great Mezcal selection. But despite it being the best option in West Seattle, it is not great.

The Matador is hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever been to! The ambiance was cozy and inviting, and the service was top-notch. But the real star of the show was the Matador bowl. Let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious! The combination of fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and perfect seasoning made each bite a culinary delight. I couldn’t get enough of it! I highly recommend trying the Matador bowl when you visit – it’s a true standout on their menu. I can’t wait to return to The Matador and indulge in more of their amazing dishes. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

Matador in West Seattle offers a lively dining experience with a great mix of flavors. I had the jalapeño poppers, enchiladas, and tacos, and each dish was satisfying. The jalapeño poppers were crispy with just the right amount of spice, the enchiladas were rich and flavorful, and the tacos were fresh and tasty. The atmosphere is vibrant, with a fun, energetic vibe perfect for a night out. The service was friendly and efficient, making the meal even more enjoyable. If you’re in West Seattle, Matador is a solid choice for delicious Mexican fare.

This Matador West Seattle location was a nice Mexican restaurant with enjoyable drinks and surprisingly tasty carnitas. It was also cool to see this restaurant was 21+ only. I didn’t adore the tortillas we tried or the bean dip/queso dip, but the salsa was solid. Service was also great throughout.
