I had an awesome time here. I sat next to the fire. It was very cozy and chill. I went during happy hour and got the nachos with the pork meat and it was only $7,It was massive! Very yummy!! Service was awesome I had I believe Emerald as a server and she was amazing.

We had three plates with different tacos and shared them. My favorite was the coconut shrimp tacos. The mango salsa is really good!

We had a wonderful dinner at The Matador! The shredded beef enchiladas and taco salad with shredded chicken were absolutely delicious, and the margaritas were excellent. Our server Adriana was super friendly and made the experience even better — she started us off with fresh homemade chips and salsa. The vibe was amazing with cool ‘70s–‘80s music and a cozy atmosphere. We came for my birthday celebration and had such a great time. Highly recommend!

Great happy hour menu and creative cocktails! Watermelon Gin Mojito was hitting on every level. Also the most respectful, attentive and accountable staff. The late hours makes this an easy frequent, with other restaurants closing earlier. Might be the best food for a ‘mainly-bar’ in the city.

We were a big group, came in after the Marti Gras parade. The staff welcomed us and were above board with their job.
They took their time with us, yes, we had individual checks, and were just fantastic.
The food was plentiful, chips and salsa, full glasses of water greated us upon sitting down. We will return. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

We aren’t new to Matador. The moment we walk in, we are helped by a lovely hostess, who goes off to clean a table for us that we preferred. The moment she leaves a rude guy comes over and he’s “trying” to help. He asked us, “Have y’all been helped?” didn’t let us finish answering, and told us to follow him when someone was actually helping.

My partner says “Hey, someone is already helping us, thank you tho.” He decided to be rude and disrespectful saying “Doesn’t matter, I can seat you over here.” when we didn’t even want to be seated over there. My partner literally had to tell him no, the dude got upset and threw down the menus he picked up. He stormed away to the back after being told no.

Later on, after we ordered, the same dude came back, said “oh, y’all are sharing?” and before we could answer, he slammed down two of the three dishes we got and again, stormed away. We did talk to some other staff members, but instead of taking accountability regarding their coworker’s action, nothing was done and we were left with an unsatisfactory feeling and visit. Later, he also delivered more food to the table behind us and he set it down nicely and engaged in conversation with them. Both my partner and I were unsure what we did to deal with his “wrath” other than telling him no. We will no longer be dining at the North Portland location. They need to learn a thing or two from the Burnside location.

I really liked the interior design during evening time. The food was definitely top tier as well. Great place to socialize with friends and enjoy a great meal.

Opened at 11am, came in at 12pm on a Sunday. No one there to greet us. And once someone came, they seemed surprised to see a customer. I had to confirm if they were open. The server was excellent/friendly. My first order, the server had to come back to say the cooks did not have anything prepped yet to make the dish. It being now 12:30 pm, that seemed unacceptable. Portions are big. Free chips and salsa. Food is tasty. Make great margaritas. Cozy restaurant. All in All, I would come back, but not quickly.

Matt A. Door, of the Arizona Doors, moved to Portland a while back. Matt wanted a place to dine that reminded him of the ranches he dined at back home, so he opened this place. Not that Matt had a ranch. No, Matt was an ice impersario. I could be wrong about all of this.

But Matt’s place is very good. The service is superb, knowledgeable, and deserves a raise. The food was stellar. And don’t even get me started about the wall of excellent tequila. I am a convert after my visit.

So go visit Matt’s place. You absolutely will not be sorry!
