Matador has a cool ambience, which is the best feature of the restaurant. The food and drink, in my opinion, are overpriced. We got the braised pork carnitas tacos, birria, brussel sprouts, and two margaritas. The portions of the various ingredients in the tacos and the birria were inconsistent, but when done right the flavors meshed together great.

Matador is always a great experience, the food is delicious and comes in reasonable portion sizes for the prices. Their drinks are delicious and they have a very good happy hour menu for both food and drinks. The servers are kind, quick and very accommodating!

Love this place. It has a great lively ambiance, lively, and energetic. We took a seat at the bar and felt well taken care of at the bar with good margaritas and a steady flow of chips and salsa while we engaged in conversation.

Shealyn made me a phenomenal Margarita called the “Smokey.” Tacos were excellent! 10 out of 10. Talked to the Sous Chef Justin, and he said the decor was all hand crafted and personally picked. Beautiful place. Immaculately clean. Loved it. Can’t wait to go back.

I sat at the bar and the service was great. The Mahi Tacos looked better than they tasted! The salsa was very good. I will be back for the Paella

Excellent pre concert happy hour. We ordered a little of everything. Not overly crowded on a Tuesday night. Super attentive server. Orders came out quickly and were delicious.

Drinks were not great slightly overpowering. We got the birria tacos for starters, they were pretty good. We got the stuffed poblano with chicken for entree, which was pretty delicious too

Everyone was super nice the menu had good options I really enjoyed the spice level. The only reason I gave the service for stars is they seem confused on who was getting which meal they actually brought us extra drinks that we didn’t order and then when two drinks look really similar they said the wrong one one person does not drink alcohol so we had to have someone at our table sip both to figure out which one was the alcoholic and which one was not. But I will definitely be going back when I have the chance

We sat by the fire inside and enjoyed our Margheritas. Complimentary chips and salsa were an unexpected treat. There was R&B music playing – I wondered if it was in honor of the historically Black neighborhood, it being Black History Month or if the white staff just dug that sort of music. Whatever it was, it seems to be working as I wasn’t the only Black person here on a Sunday night. I like to ponder what makes a restaurant appealing and welcoming to the Black community as I’m often isolated when I’m out and about in Portland, Oregon. I got some tacos which were pretty good. I didn’t see a lot of vegan or even vegetarian options on the menu – for tacos or enchiladas which is what I was eyeing. Happy there were items were marked gf! Custom iron work abounds, and the bar is lovely to look at. If they have tequila flights – I’ll be back. I love flights of interesting alcohol comparisons… travel for the mouth!

This location has a lot of indoor seating and big tables for groups. Over all good experience, great service. Drinks were good, they have a nice happy hour selection. Lots of food items to choose from that all sounded very good.
