Reviews
The food was outstanding. The steak was cooked exactly as ordered, tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. You can really tell they take pride in the quality of their meat and the precision of the preparation. The sides were just as impressive, rich, well balanced, and ideal for sharing.
The service was attentive and polished throughout the evening. The staff was knowledgeable, paced the meal well, and made sure everything flowed smoothly without ever feeling rushed. Overall, Mastro’s delivers exactly what you expect from a top tier steakhouse: great food, refined ambiance, and excellent service. Definitely a place worth returning to for a high end dining experience in Beverly Hills.
Food: Yes the food. The steaks are high grade and perfectly cooked. We had the New York strip and the Ribeye and the texture, seasoning, char on the meat, the juiciness, the flavor of the steaks were soooooooooo good. Joy is the flavor of the meat. The sides do not disappoint either, Mac and cheese is high quality, the mashed potatoes were creamy/seasoned/delicious, and the desert cheesecake was well portioned and not overly sweet with fresh berries. The after diner coffee made me comfortable happy as the finish to an incredible meal.
Service: The serving staff are top notch awesome. Water glasses always full and they are ready for all reasonable requests though I never asked for any unreasonable ones.
Ambiance: I know I am at a steak house when I am here. That dark leather, wood seating decor look, not overly bright lighting with that dancing candle light look, along with the salivating smell of cooked steaks. That is the quintessential steak house experience.
Ambience: The restaurant was very dark and incredibly loud, making it difficult to hear one another. The live music was turned up too high, which gave the place more of an upscale bar vibe than a fine dining atmosphere.
Food: The food was the biggest letdown. We ordered a Wagyu tomahawk steak priced over $200, but about 75% of the cut was fat and inedible. After one small bite, we stopped eating. We also ordered sautéed broccolini and fries—both were fine but unremarkable. The oddest part was the extremely hot serving plates, which made the food so hot that it burned our tongues.
Drinks: I ordered a Sazerac, but it was harsh and unpleasant. While I’m no whiskey expert, the aftertaste suggested that a lower-quality whiskey was used.
Service: Our server, Momo, was not very attentive. She offered to take photos for a nearby table but didn’t extend the same offer to us. She checked on our meals before we’d even taken a bite and then disappeared until we flagged someone for the check. Water refills only happened when we waved down staff.
Overall: The experience fell short of expectations, especially for the price. We spent nearly $400 and left feeling disappointed—I don’t think we’ll be returning.
We came here for my father-in-law’s 70th birthday, a fact that restaurant knew. Off the bat they had us on our back foot as we booked a table outside but were told they were “fully committed”. Even though we were early, we still had to wait to sit, INSIDE, until ten minutes after our reservation time.
Then? Thirty minutes until we had menus and water. Forty minutes until we had a waitress. Two hours until our food saw the table, and even then it was incomplete.
The staff was friendly, but the management of this place is clearly ill-equipped to prepare for the logistics necessary of managing a restaurant. Don’t bother, a real disappointment.
Also the atmosphere is like a steakhouse in Vegas (pejorative).
The best part was our experience and how we were taken care of by April she was and is very
“ Espectacular”
I will most definitely be coming back here.
She made me feel so welcomed and it was my birthday
