We came to Mastro’s Ocean Club for our 5th Wedding Anniversary, and I would like to say it was the best fine dining we’ve ever experienced. It was our first time trying Mastro’s, and the customer service they provided was top-notch. My husband brought me here for my birthday. Upon arrival we were kindly greeted by the host and manager and seated right away. They had some live music for entertainment if you’re into that.
Our sever took a while to greet us but five minutes after the busser served us water he finally appeared.
He asked if we wanted bread service and we did. About ten minutes later some fresh bread came out. The entire basket was so fresh and tasty!
Our bar drinks did take a while to come out. Maybe about 15 minutes.
Finally after a long while it was time to order our dinner. We ordered the bone in filet and the wagyu New York steak. The wagyu had so much flavor and beautifully melted in your mouth. The filet was good as well but I felt both were lacking seasoning.
The sides we ordered were the truffle gnocchi, pillowy and delicious, covered in a creamy sauce with truffles and mushrooms, and the Brussels sprouts which came out like charred pieces of charcoal. My mouth was so bitter after taking a bite I couldn’t even enjoy my steak after that. When I flagged our waiter down to tell him, before I even said anything, he asked “is it too charred” So you knew it was charred yet you served it. Interesting. Anyway they swapped it for another which came out fairly quickly.
Once we were done he offered the birthday chocolate cake slice they give. (Overly sweet, it was soaked in chocolate sauce like Hershey’s or something. It didn’t taste like a normal piece of chocolate cake, it was absolutely disgusting.) He told us we could order any other dessert if we preferred that. I remember last year we were able to get the butter cake for my birthday dessert. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case this year. Instead our server offered the table RIGHT next to us a complimentary butter cake because it was their first time. I’m sorry does that give them priority over a birthday celebration? Rubbed us wrong and felt really unfair(Considering we come celebrate here often for celebrations)

Everything about this experience was incredible from start to finish. From the warm greeting at the entrance to being seated at our table, the tone for the night was perfectly set.
Sarah was an amazing server—friendly, attentive, and perfectly timed with every course. The lobster bisque was the best I’ve ever had, the Mastro’s salad was unbelievably delicious, and the 33oz ribeye was cooked to perfection. The baked potato and buttery asparagus were the perfect finishing touches. Huge credit to Adrian and the rest of the team for their seamless support—they were all fantastic.
The live music was so entertaining and added a magical vibe to the evening. “Dancing in the Moonlight” was performed beautifully and made the night even more special.
Special thanks to Antoinette and the management team for creating the perfect birthday dinner. I’m incredibly grateful and can’t wait to come back for another amazing evening.

A cocktail here is a must!! Steak/Beef is cooked way better than the Malibu location. Newport might not be able to compare in ocean views to Malibu, but Newport has the charm, spacious and just loud enough to talk over. Their lounge/bar is separated which probably explains why Malibu was so ridiculously overly loud. We are not into stuffy quiet places, nor feeling like we are sitting right underneath speaker bass though. Malibu barely reopened earlier this year, so itll take some time to get better.
$10 Valet, not bad. Cheaper than the Malibu location. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. Only the bake potatoe was abit overly dry which was sad cause it’s the only side my dad wanted. The rest of the sides were loved by the party.
TIP: Horse radish (and cream horse radish) are fresh and really good!! A must for horse radish lovers.
TIP: Order a cocktail. They’ll leave you a hefty leftover amount on the shaker. Strong but tasty drinks = great mixologists.

There is dairy free bread options, and dairy free substitutes for some dishes. They do offer house whip cream but it was overly sweet for everyone. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be that sweet?

Although I’ve been to better steakhouses in New York, this place is still very good. The service is fast, the staff are super friendly, and the portions are what you’d expect from a high-end steakhouse. The prices are definitely on the higher side, but for Newport, where options are limited, this is about as good as it gets.

Beautiful location! We were seated at a table that was a bit cramped and in a high traffic area. I mentioned it to a person in our party. Someone must have heard because within 5 minutes, a gentleman came over offering another table for us with more room and a fantastic view! The service at this restaurant is excellent. They pay attention to every detail and even have restroom attendants. My Chilean sea bass was perfection and the best macaroni and cheese I have had. The others enjoyed the tender rib eye. The brussel sprouts and lobster potatoes were okay. I did not care for the desert, but others enjoyed it. They have excellent, generous cocktails. The experience was amazing because of the attention you are given. Highly recommend!

I’ve been to 4 different Mastro’s and this one is by far my favorite. The service is always top notch, with a team of long time servers always at the ready. The live piano / singer is such a nice touch. The food is delicious and everything is thought of – super hot plates, they portion and serve the food on everyone’s plates. Martinis are given to you in the shaker so it’s really like 2 martinis. Always a good vibe for a date night or celebration. It has amazing atmosphere but the restaurant looks slightly dated. Oh and corkage is pretty reasonable, I think around $35.
