We had an absolutely incredible experience celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary at Mastro’s Ocean Club in Scottsdale. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere, service, and attention to detail were outstanding. The food was phenomenal—perfectly prepared, beautifully presented, and truly memorable.

What made the evening even more special was the exceptional service from our server, John. I entrusted him with a very special surprise for my wife—an emerald gold ring—and he handled everything flawlessly. He coordinated the moment perfectly and presented the ring with our dessert in such an elegant and thoughtful way. It turned our anniversary dinner into a truly unforgettable moment.

Thank you to John and the entire team at Mastro’s Ocean Club for making our celebration so special. We felt genuinely cared for and appreciated. We will absolutely be back!

I was extremely pleased with my dining experience and had an excellent time celebrating my anniversary with my wife. Upon walking in we could tell this space was special. The atmosphere, decor, and staff are highly professional, and inviting. The food was amazing. Our waiter Jesse had a great attitude, sense of humor, and paid attention to detail which made the evening special and enjoyable. I highly recommend Mastro’s and will be returning.

First time at Mastro’s and it was fantastic! The food was amazing (definitely need to try their Seafood Tower!) All the way to the sin pie (chocolate decadence!) Can’t wait to come back!

Food: Everyone loved their choices; pork chop, branzino & crab legs
Service: One of the best, if not the best. Thank you!
Atmosphere: Classy, dim-lit restaurant with a modern edge steakhouse and seafood

Food was good, except one of our guests had to send back their steak for not being cooked as requested. Our Server was very polite and took care of us but it took a long time to order, get our food and find the server when we needed him. Lastly, I imagined a fine dining experience but what we got was “fine dining, sports bar style”. The restaurant website says there is a dress code; no sports caps, sloppy clothes, etc., but lots of guys had sports caps on, flip flops, very casually dressed. It was also so loud like a sports bar. Thankfully our group had a semi private area but if we had sat anywhere else in the restaurant, we would have had to yell at each other to talk. Yes, it was that loud. Not what I was expecting. We were there for 4 hours, that’s how long it took to eat dinner between appetizers, dinner and dessert and getting our servers attention. Be prepared to pay a pretty penny when dining here and be prepared for the sportsbar vibe. Oh yeah, I was there celebrating my birthday and they got my name wrong on the personalized menus and cake. I told them I wasn’t “Debra” and they laughed it off.

The food and service here is always superb. Nothing is left wanted and they always make a point to help you feel special for birthday celebrations! (They print happy birthday on the menus and give a free butter cake!)

Horrible service. We spent 75 minutes waiting for our dinner. They finally brought to go boxes with what you see in the pictures… raw steaks, no sauce on any side. I get tickets get lost and mistakes happen yet no one at this restaurant bothered to come to our table and own it and try to serve the meal we ordered on Father’s Day. Sad as we have been regulars for years.

The very best wedding anniversary dinner or any dinner ever… thanks to Duke, Emma, and actually all the other staff at Mastro’s. We have never been treated with such care & kindness as these people exhibited in our lifetimes. Kyle Bankston as Manager has inherited Superlative people like Duke, who has been there for 25 years, and Kyle’s newer hires like Emma and the hostesses who represent the finest employees possible. Every morsel of food from the starters to the final desserts was exceptional, as were the specialty drinks my lovely wife of 35 years ordered, aided with discovery by Duke. We could not fault ANY aspect of personal service, atmosphere, or the presentation, quality, taste, & texture of our meals. The thoughtfulness exhibited throughout was outstanding also, we were given a copy of our evenings menu with the heading “ Happy 35th Anniversary “.
We will never ever forget the finest experience in awesome dining surrounded with the finest in professional caring service. We were treated as Royalty, quite an eye opening event overall. It is my privilege to thank Mastro’s, Kyle, Duke, Emma, and the others for an evening to cherish.

Right out of the gate, I thought to myself “dang, another steakhouse”. And while it has many similarities to an Eddie V’s or a Morton’s, they all have their own little flare.

First order of business – drinks. This was a 20 person corporate dinner, so getting drinks in hand is no easy task but, yet, an important one! Handled with ease, everyone had a drink within minutes.

Second order of business – ambience. It has the typical low-light, romantic, upscale steakhouse vibe that most do.

Now comes the good stuff…FOOD!

JAPANESE A5 WAYGU – I loved the steak selections. Being a midwesterner, we eat steaks frequently and it’s always the same options. We rarely see anything outside the norm, so I had to order something I can’t easily get back in Iowa. And being severely anemic, steaks are always at the top of my list. While the seafood looked good, I’m still a midwestern steak lover. I opted for the Japanese A5 Waygu, medium rare. This was a melt-like-warm-butter situation. Oh…my…! Definitely a top 5 steak in my lifetime, and I’ve eaten steaks around the globe. I couldn’t stop from devouring this steak. And I got it Oscar style, but that was a waste. This steak needed no sauce. While the king crab was delicious, it was unnecessary for this beautiful steak. If there was a steak heaven, this one sits on the King’s throne.

CHILEAN SEA BASS – husband got the Chilean Sea Bass with a blackened seasoning. No disappointments here; fish was white, thick cut, hearty and flaky, and perfectly seasoned. Blackened spice had bold flavors and a small kick, with the temperature on it spot on. Not overcooked and rubbery, like many fishes are.

SIDES – were family style, all delicious! We had Asparagus, broccolini, white gnocchi, lobster mashed potatoes and onion rings. All fire!

HEIRLOOM TOMATO SALAD – was nothing special; honestly, I thought it was bland. Tomatoes weren’t in season so that didn’t help but this dish lacked any flavor. Even the balsamic was tasteless.

WEDGE SALAD – I love a wedge salad, so we ordered one when the server’s intro speech recommended their wedge salad as the most popular salad. This is pre-chopped, and I didn’t like that. Half the reason I love wedge salads is because it’s a wedge that I cut myself. It’s the fun of the salad, so when it came pre-chopped I wasn’t impressed. Now, to be fair, it does say “chopped” on the menu, so that was my bad for not putting the dots together there. Also, I like a balsamic glaze drizzled over the top of my wedge, and this didn’t have that either. Underwhelming salad IMO.

BUTTER RUM CAKE – what they’re most known for, and I can see why. It’s a rum-soaked, dense pound cake, and it is decedent.

FLOURLESS CAKE – is rubbing myself in flourless chocolate cake a crime, because this cake was so rich and creamy, I half expect that it would double as a great body cream! Thick, rich, creamy and delicious…so glad we didn’t have much to go around because I would’ve eaten the whole thing and been miserable. Even more miserable than I already felt after eating half the bread basket (before our salads) plus everything else!

All in all, this is a top 5 for me in the Scottsdale area. And we’ve eaten our way across Scottsdale so finding dream locations isn’t a daily occurrence. We have many we like but don’t love; this one we LOVED!
