Massey’s has wonderful customer service and a really cool atmosphere, the food was decent but wasn’t anything spectacular. The absolute best thing about this place was their sweet tea. Maybe the best sweet tea in Texas, minus my wife. And the dessert was always really good. Again, the people were great and the atmosphere was cool but the food was aight.

Was referred to Massey’s by a friend.
When we entered, this was definitely not what I expected.
It’s set up to walk up to counter place order and take a number and they bring it out to you in paper containers you get your own plasticware and your own drink.
You pay for your meal at the counter when you place your order and they ask for a tip . So why am I being asked for a tip before I’ve received my food and is the tip for them just to walk it out to your table or bring it out to you I’m already paying for the food.! I did, however give tip begrudgingly.
Right from the beginning, I already made up my mind I wouldn’t be returning.
Food was average to less than average
Then to make the visit even worse, which I realize this is not the establishment’s fault I walk out and somebody had backed their dark colored later model equinox into the front of my truck and they drove off no note or anything. When I asked the young lady behind the counter if they could look on the cameras and see if it caught anybody , she said she would, she proceeded to text somebody and told me that she knew everybody pretty much that was there that evening, but never said anymore to me about it come out and looked and walked back inside..
Then the following day when it was daylight, I got a better look at the front of my ranch Hand style bumper, and they did bend one side of the rail. I called and asked if they could view the video again to at least show who walked out of their establishment and went towards the direction of where we was parked . It was only my truck and another vehicle that parked on that side of the parking lot this equinox they call me back to tell me that at that moment their cameras wasn’t working.!!!
Sounds to me like possibly they may have known to whom it was that backed up into my pick up truck and damaged my bumper, but didn’t want to tell me!!

WOW this place is wonderful. The hospitality is over the top they make you feel like you’re eating at a friends house or family. The food was wonderful best brisket I’ve ever had the french fries are hand cut in. The onion rings are freshly made. Everything is fresh, homemade and ready for you to enjoy if you don’t stop here or try it out yourself. You’re missing out on some good Texas, barbecue and, the owner himself was there when we went today and he was just as kind and made me feel like we were Valued customers hard to find that in today’s market thank you so much Mr. Massey for the incredible barbecue, the hospitality and you can Without a doubt will be back probably tomorrow the damn food, so good I’m already craving it as I’m writing this review you got me hooked. Thank you for opening Restaurant with a venue, an area for the kids to play and live music on certain days I’m so glad you chose Glen Rose, Texas ❤️✔️

Update: we went back a second time and it wasnt as good. The ribs were sparse and somewhat dry and the sliced beef was not as good. The service isnt as friendly as the first time.

Went there a few days ago, and the outside is really attractive. They clearly put a lot into this place. The service was very good, the employees are well trained. Our food came out quickly. We chose to sit in the large room our back since it was a nice day. This place has two pickleball courts and a basketball court. There’s a stage inside the huge dining area, great for gatherings like a reunion or band. A youth outing would be awesome here. There are heaters in there for when it gets cooler, too.
The husband had the ribs, and I had a sliced beef sandwich. I forgot the camera until I had ¾ of it gone

Have to say I was disappointed. This place was highly recommended. First – very friendly staff& really cool atmosphere. Plenty of seating with tvs indoor & out.
However, I ordered the brisket tacos & smoked Mac & cheese. The m&c was fine. The brisket tacos were very dry. If it wasn’t for the bbq sauce- I would not have eaten them.
So I can recommend this place – but that’s only my opinion.

Went to Massey’s Glen Rose today for dinner. My husband ordered chopped brisket, turkey, and bologna with a side of mac and cheese. I had the loaded nachos with pulled pork. Overall we thought everything tasted good. The turkey was our favorite, not dry with good flavor.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The owner, Todd, was there greeting everyone and shaking hands. The Glen Rose hospitality that made me fall in love with this little town.
We will definitely be going back again in the future.

We went on Tuesday of this week and enjoyed it so much that we came back less than a week later!! The food is delicious and is a perfect BBQ. The only other place that we have enjoyed this much was the BBQ on the Brazos that is up in the Cresson Sunoco gas station. Massey’s BBQ is a great place to bring family and friends. Just know that everything is A La Carte. Make sure you get the onion rings they were fantastic. The service was also wonderful. Everyone was very polite and helpful and great at describing everything.

I’ve waited a few days to do this review, I always try to be fair when I review. I do consider my self a BBQ snob #1. I was excited about this restaurant because the BBQ in the granbury Glen Rose area is terrible. The building is great, they did a phenomenal job with this place. The food though misses the mark completely. It’s some of the worst food I’ve ever had. I placed an order for two people to go. The amount of confusion that there was in getting my food was insane. They gave me the wrong order the first time, then I had to wait after talking to the staff multiple times about what my order was. They gave me my order I felt like it was light but kept walking, A gentleman came running to the door with another bag, I commented I figured it wasn’t everything. I then got in my truck and started to drive, I saw the same gentlemen outside with another bag and rolled my window down and sure enough it was for me. I got back to work and only received half my order. I called and shared my concerns about this and told them I would be coming back to pick up the rest. I went back to there and they gave me the food that was missing and some dessert and my money back because they felt bad about my order. I was appreciative of that, the pudding was actually pretty good. My review rating of one star is from the food not the service although the service was lacking. The fact that they served me the meat that they served me is embarrassing, I’ll attach pictures of some of the driest brisket I’ve ever had. All our food ended up in the trash because it was so bad. You be the judge and tell me by the color of my brisket if it should’ve been served. The pork was dry, the turkey was ok. Just overall this food was terrible. I appreciate the money back and the dessert, I will try again to give a fair shot, this food should’ve never left the kitchen, there’s just no way. Just got a burger from here, the amount of salt is insane, picture attached. Way to much seasoning

Bottom line will always be food. Brisket was dry and flavorless. You could taste smoke only. The BBQ sauce was not good. Maybe it was a bad day but the most prominent parts of any BBQ joint were not good at all. The smoked Mac and cheese had zero smoke. It was an over priced ($4.95) small side of regular Mac and cheese.
Now the ribs were decent. Not a ton of flavor but very tender and pulled off bone properly.
To the owner, check your sauce. Something was in there and it’s ok to season up brisket.

I have stopped here a couple times and the food is excellent but today the service was basically non existent. It took 3 minutes for anybody to arrive at the counter to ring me up and I proceeded to wait for my Togo order for 30 minutes before finding out the order was placed in the hot box for pick up 20 minutes before as I was ignored. What should have been a quick in and out was a 30 minute wait. When they found that the issue had occurred there was no sense of urgency to bag it up, no apology for my food getting cold while it sat there ( onion rings are always best when eaten immediately) and when I expressed my displeasure at it being served to me as it sat cooling for 20 minutes the waitress just shrugged and said I dunno what happened. Both were there when I placed my order. Normally the waitstaff bring out the food show you before bagging it up and are always friendly but not tonight. The response of the staff has definitely soured my opinion of this place. The food is good but I stop in generally on my way home and if is going to create a delay and staff aren’t going to care when they inconvenience people I may not go back because the food and price isn’t worth the hassle I went through tonight. Hopefully this is an anomaly but my time is worth more to me to want to continue to try them.
