It was bustling on the first floor with a lot of celebrations going on. Apparently the 2nd floor is quieter and would be good to check out next time.
Don’t miss ordering the seafood tower. Probably one of the best I have ever had with a really nice presentation with lettuce wraps for the lobster salad, mini cones with crab meat and amazing colossal sized shrimp. The smoking dry ice was fun as well although not necessary since it was such a beautiful platter already!
We were told by a friend to get the charcoal grilled prawns, and he was totally right on because it was absolutely tender and tasty!
My husband’s melt in your mouth filet mignon was perfectly grilled!
My squid ink pasta with seafood was great but I couldn’t find any of the lobster or rock shrimp that was listed on the menu. There was plenty of regular shrimp and scallops but wasn’t as special as it could have been.
I would definitely come back here with my whole family and wish Mason’s was in Boston and easier to get to. This surprising steakhouse stands up and exceeds many of the steakhouses in Boston proper!
Note: there is complementary valet parking across the street!
Food: coal roasted prawns, half dozen oysters. Cesar salad. Filet migon, wine, all delicious.
However, I would not order the pan roasted duck again or their pumpkin patch cheesecake. The duck was disappointing, a little gamey. The salad included had no sauce and the buttered corn did not complement the duck. If you cannot execute a dish well, please take it off the menu. The pumpkin cheesecake was too rich that I wouldn’t want to finish it. The cinnamon was too overpowering. Their chocolat hazelnut dessert was okay.
Atmosphere: modern decor in an old building. Open kitchen and a nice bar. What not to love. But, it could get pretty loud.
Overall, we would come back again for certain dishes and when their service gets better. For the price point, we expected good quality food and service. And unfortunately, we were left disappointed.
The crust on the steaks is great and they are always cooked perfectly.
Elevated atmosphere.
