Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls absolutely lives up to the name. I ordered the Connecticut Roll and the Lobster Mac and both were outstanding. The roll was warm, perfectly toasted, buttery, and packed with fresh, flavorful lobster. Easily one of the best lobster rolls I’ve had.

The lobster mac and cheese was just as impressive. Very creamy, rich, and loaded with lobster, with a perfectly baked finish on top. Definitely a 10 out of 10.

Mackenzie made the experience even better with excellent customer service and great recommendations. The food came out fast, hot, and exactly as described. Great atmosphere and overall experience. I’ll definitely be back.

Absolutely the best lobster ever! I cycle between the Midlothian and Short Pump locations and I can say no matter which one I pop into, the staff (Angela and Mackenzie are my favorites ❤️) is always friendly and the food is always fresh.

My favorite place to stop in and get a delicious bite to eat. Highly recommend

I ordered the Connecticut Roll and the large Clam Chowder. The taste of the lobster was sweet and tender. It was delicious. And, the Chowder was chunky and flavorful. My only con is the portion size snd price. $21 for the Connecticut Roll is on the pricey side for a small hot dog roll portion. Yes, lobster is not cheap but for the amount received, I am torn. I am undecided if I will return.

Today I tried the traditional lobster roll at Mason’s. The flavor was overall enjoyable, with a savory seasoning blend that I couldn’t quite identify, but it added a nice twist. The buttery, toasted bun was definitely a highlight. However, the portion of lobster was noticeably smaller compared to rolls I’ve had elsewhere.

Having tried lobster rolls in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island, I’d say Mason’s ranks lower on my list in terms of both quality and value. I ordered my roll to-go due to a lack of available seating, and was a bit disappointed that it didn’t come with a lemon wedge, which I’ve come to expect. I was offered a pickle, which I accepted, but it was surprisingly thin and underwhelming for a roll priced at over $20.

Additionally, the mayo wasn’t evenly distributed. There was a large dollop hidden at one end of the bun, which threw off the balance of the flavor.

Overall, while Mason’s isn’t terrible, it didn’t quite meet my expectations based on experiences elsewhere. I might return if I’m really craving a lobster roll, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

They have a pretty good menu here. Lots of different lobster rolls to pick from. I picked out a Connecticut role which is the hot roll with butter. My wife got the lobster salad roll which is a cold roll, more like a true main lobster roll. Both were delicious but we were a little disappointed in the size of them. They have a very nice area outside for sitting with umbrellas overlooking a pond. The staff were friendly and our food came out quickly.

I went there with my Mom for my birthday lunch and we love exploring new places we have never been. Mason’s was my choice and let me tell you, they did not disappoint.
We both ordered The Connecticut. Which was warm lobster with butter in a roll. We actually got the combo and it averaged about $25 a person which was very acceptable considering how much lobster we actually got.
We chatted with the owner Kevin and MacKenzie, the manager and the rest of the staff were friendly and polite.
I’ve already made plans to go back and introduce a friend to this hidden dining experience.
Kevin, the only suggestion I have is to move your “Open” sign to the other side of the door above your hours. The windows are super tinted so driving by it does appear closed. Both my mom and I didn’t notice the open sign. ‍♀️
Looking forward to eating there in the near future.

This was my first visit to Mason’s (7/24/2025), even though I’ve passed it many times. Today, I finally decided to stop in — and I’m glad I did. I ordered the Connecticut Lobster Roll (with 50% more lobster) and the Lobster Bisque, which came with chunks of lobster. The customer service was excellent, and as a pleasant surprise, the regional rep happened to be in the store. He didn’t have to say a word, but he was warm, welcoming, and struck up a conversation. He even mentioned that both items I ordered were his personal favorites — a great personal touch, especially coming from someone based out of the DC area. He made this visit from 4 stars to 5 stars.

The food itself was solid. The lobster roll was loaded with meat, though the bun was a bit smaller than expected. Still, everything was flavorful and satisfying, and I would visit again.

My total came to $38.95. With tax and a $5 tip, the final bill was $47.13.

While the roll initially seemed smaller than I expected, my apprehension vanished with the first bite. It was entirely packed with an impressive amount of sweet, succulent lobster tail and claw meat – not just a decorative topping, which completely justifies the price. The flavor of the lobster is simply phenomenal; it’s perfectly cooked and expertly seasoned, allowing the natural deliciousness of the seafood to shine through. A truly satisfying and unforgettable lobster roll experience!”

Lobster roll was smaller than a iPhone. Definitely not worth the price and I’m not understanding where the fame came from. The lobster Mac and cheese was $17 and is considered an “entree” when in reality it’s smaller than most sides at a restaurant. $40 and I wasn’t even full. I’m never one to leave bad reviews but this level of price gouging is ridiculous. The only reason I came was because roots was closed.

You can not go wrong with the lobster rolls here, if lobster isn’t quite you’re thing, crazy, but they do offer crab rolls and shrimp rolls. The rolls are buttery as well as toasted and you ca get your protein hot or cold as well depending on your preferences. They have some combos depending on if you want size and or a drink. I did see they had a single dessert option, the whoopie pie if you want a little sweet treat. The clam chowder was good, lots of hearty chunks and piping hot with some oyster crackers. Standard fountain drinks and a small assortment of beers. The staff here are friendly and upbeat, the parking lot is a decent size, no problem with parking and the prices are standard for seafood so it is not super cheap. I think two combos were a little over 60 bucks, so don’t be surprised, but the meal itself was delicious. I would come here again if given the opportunity.
