The flavor of the beef in the beef bun was good.
Enjoyed the vegan dumplings too.
The service when the food was delivered was good as well.
The restaurant was clean.
service: kind and quick, even though it was busy.
Ambiance: fun art, way too bright, and a bit sterile, but hey, Xiao long bao be messy.
food: was good when it opened, has declined. Soup dumplings wrappers can be inconsistent, and the last few times, steamed together, which bothers me to no end.
seaweed salad: excellent! most of their lil dim sum style sides are good.
soup dumplings: passable, but they do exist, so a win.
over the last 3 orders, all the skins/ dough were a little thick, and raw/doughy. All orders had at least 25% blown sides. one order had 75% blown sides (soup drained out). clearly all cooked from frozen, and done so incorrectly.
pork was classic flavor.
chicken Yuzu was interesting! not quite there, keep working on it. these has the blown sides.
I will return if the food quality does not fall any further
Service is friendly, open kitchen. Order at the counter first and staff will assign a you a table number. Plates and bowls are a nice stoneware, not plastic.
Food comes quickly and served hot. Each table has condiments like chili oil, black vinegar and soy sauce.
We ordered:
Pork Belly Noodle
$14.00
1 Pan Fried Pork
$12.00
1 Steamed Soup
$13.00
1 Pan Fried Beef
$13.00
1 Baby Bok Choy
$6.50
We also received a complementary pan fried chicken which was a pleasant surprise!
The wrap on the soup filled dumplings is a bit thicker than we are used to but the flavour is delicious and there is plenty of yummy soup inside. Overall a great choice if you’re craving this type of food.
I was visiting from out of town and we saw this place online. Walking in, we were unsure what to order, or how it all worked. The woman working the counter was more than happy to give us some recommendations. We order some dumplings and veggies. Food came out quick and was served directly to our table. Everything was authentic and delicious, you’d think you were in China Town in any big US city. While getting ready to leave, one of the chefs walks out and handed us a to-go container full of dumplings, apparently an order made in error. The woman at the counter not only told us to take them (because they were just going to get thrown out anyways), but she insisted on packing us a goodie bag of sauces to go along with them.
While it might not look like anything special at first glance, the staff here is beyond dedicated to the food they cook and the people they serve, and everything was comfortingly delicious. I will 100% be coming back to Mason’s, and will recommend to anyone looking for a good place to eat in the area.
First up was the pork belly bun. So good. Savory and slightly sweet. Steamed crab and pork dumplings were next. Really good but I don’t feel like I could really taste crab. Lastly the pan fried chicken and cabbage dumplings. They were nicely browned and crunchy while the insides were moist and tender.
I liked the vibe of the place; since it has only been open for a couple of weeks we went early in case it was packed. It was very crowded by the time we left but nice we didn’t have a long wait for our food.
While the menu caters to all types of eaters, I was particularly stoked to see some epic vegan and gluten free options!
We had the vegetarian rice bowl (which is vegan and gluten free), with the vegan chicken and vegan beef. Dude, the vegan chicken and vegan beef is sooooo goood!
Their vegetarian dumplings and vegan buns are both vegan, but contain gluten. We liked the buns with vegan chicken the best, and the vegetarian dumplings were solid too!
Overall, a nice new counter serve place that serves great food pretty fast – try it ✌️
Biggest issues were the place was messy, the service was terrible and zero information about food allergebs. Every table was either dirty or hadn’t been bussed while the cashier / busboy was chatting with the kitchen staff. I won’t be back.
