I went there for prime rib and was massively disappointed. It’s been a couple years since I’ve been here and was really excited. I ordered my prime rib medium and when it came out it was so over cooked. I couldn’t even eat more than 3 bites it was so bad. It was disgustingly dry and kept getting stuck in my teeth it was so leathery. The server didn’t come back to the table under my boyfriend was done. I told her how bad the steak was and she apologized. She came back and said she discounted it and took the extra au jus off since I didn’t end up needing it. It was not discounted, just the $1.50 taken off. I’m not one to complain but this was terrible. I was a server for 12 years. I didn’t mind paying $28 for the plate but I couldn’t even eat more than 3 bites and they still charged me for it. It was noticeably overcooked so it wasn’t like they couldn’t see it. If they couldn’t than they shouldnt work at a steak house. Anyway we paid and still left a good tip but I’ll be looking for somewhere else for prime rib. Honestly no wonder we were the only people there on a saturday night at 7 if this is how they are now.

Brought family here based on a recommendation. As some of the reviews say, the service is friendly and the place has a cozy atmosphere
However, the food is not good at all. I had what they label as a smoked 2 inch pork steak. That’s supposed to be very tender.
This particular pork steak was not two inches.It was only about 3/4″ and it was not smoked. And however it was prepared, it was overcooked and tough. And when I received it, it was actually cold. So i’m guessing maybe it was from the weekend since this was a Monday evening that we went. My wife and sister had their steak tips and noodles and they do not believe that the beef was a good cut. There are several other issues with the food that we had.
My main issue was with management giving zero apologies for the fact that the food was as terrible as I was describing to them. This manager kept giving soft excuses on why things were like they were. At one point of our discussion about how terrible the pork steak was. The manager told me that the the distributor did not give them the correct pork steaks, and that’s why it looked like it did. And that they were just trying to “salvage” what they were given. I absolutely hate having to give a poor review, but this was a terrible experience.

The service was awesome and the staff were super kind. The restaurant felt very cozy as well. My main complaint is the food tasted like it was intended for an old folks home. My mother ordered pasta and it was very overdone and mushy. I had their pretzels and beer cheese, and the cheese was clumpy, like they didn’t prepare the roux correctly. Maybe its good for other people’s liking but it was pretty underwhelming in my opinion, especially considering the prices.

Service was slow to non existent. Food was subpar and not even offered to replace an ice cold burger or over done steak. It was not busy as there was only one other table sat. We used to love coming here but will not return.

Updated Review: Their Fried Chicken is so delicious, the best item on the menu!!! Hubby’s prime rib was just ok and their steaks are cooked on a grill. Baked Potato was dark and old,replaced with a different one. Green Beans, some were fresh, some were dark and old tasting. And there was a hair in his green beans. This visit was just mediocre. Chicken is the best. Chicken and dumplings are homemade but not much chicken added.

We arrived on Friday night around 730 . They were very busy and had to wait while they cleaned a table off for us . What impressed me the most was . Every employee and there were 6 or 7 that walked by while we waiting asked us if we had been helped out yet . Kudos to the owners and staff on that for sure.
Our waitress sandy was very good also.
The homemade bread to start the meal was excellent. Very airy and actually had taste to it .
I ordered the 24oz porterhouse medium rare and it was cooked perfectly to my liking .
My wife enjoyed the seafood ravioli as well . All of our food was cooked expertly and arrived in reasonable time frame.
Will definitely be back

Let me preface this review by saying I have not been here. I found out about this place in an article about 10 most humble steak house in illinois with “outrageously good steaks”. After reading many reviews, i noticed a pattern. The only feedback from any review was only on several bad ones. The owner/ management took no responsibility for anything in their responses. The inconsistent food prep and quality and inattentive wait staff seem to be a constant problem, which is never addressed in their responses. There was no apology, let them make it right, etc. It seemed to be the customers fault. With many good reviews, try responding to them as well. Was excited about a steakhouse within an hour or so from Springfield, but don’t think it would be worth the drive now, not with this type of attitude from owner/mgt.

Nice atmosphere inside, but we frequently order to go. Homemade soups and flatbreads are good. Great prime rib and pork steak. Gorgonzola pasta with steak is very good. Brussel sprouts order as a side are bacon wrapped (one of our favorites).
We tried brunch for the first time recently and while the quantity was great for the price we were a little let down by the quality (biscuits and French toast could be better in taste) and the advertised $3 mimosas with flavoring are more like dry champagne with flavoring (no orange juice like a mimosa) so that was bit disappointing. Overall a reliable restaurant with a nice variety on the menu.
