Came here to celebrate my friend’s milestone birthday— he flew into London specifically for the Christmas/New Year vibes, so we wanted something special. While the location is unbeatable (15 feet from the center of Piccadilly and right by the tube), the experience was a total mixed bag of “wow” food and “really?” management.

The “Vibe” vs. The Reality: The “Surprise” Charges & Service: The biggest letdown? The hidden costs. We were hit with a £35 “Christmas cover charge” on the final bill that was never mentioned at the time of booking. Add to that a birthday cake we requested in advance that felt completely uninspired and—surprise!—we were charged for that too. 😀

The logistics felt “budget” for a premium spot. While places like Colonel Saab handle your coats at the door, here you’re stuck with a DIY coat stand. It made the whole place look messy with winter gear everywhere. Service was generally slow and uninspired, though Swaraj was a total pro and did a great job—he was the only one who seemed to care.

Vegetarian Food Review

The Best: The Paneer starter (5/5) was incredibly soft. The Paneer Subzi (5/5) and Dal (5/5) were the highlights of the meal, along with a very solid Veg Biryani (4.5/5).

The Mid-Range: Nachos Sprouted Chat (4/5) was quite good. The Kofta Curry Bhajia (3.5/5) was decent, and the Cheese Balls (2.5/5) were okay with a nice aftertaste.

The Disappointing: The street food was a letdown. Both the Pani Puri (2/5) and Dahi Puri (2/5) were mediocre. The Yam (2/5) was crunchy but a tad bit uninspiring.

The Birthday “Surprise”: We moved to single malts after the cocktails turned out to be totally average/forget-all. As for the celebration? We requested a cake at the time of booking. It was delivered with zero fanfare—didn’t feel special at all—and to top it off, we were charged for it. Not the best look for a birthday dinner. 😀

Service: It was a bit of a slow-motion evening. The general service felt sluggish and uninspired, though I have to give a shout-out to Swaraj. He actually did a good job and was the one bright spot in an otherwise unexcited service team.

Verdict: Go for the location and the Paneer, but don’t expect the “red carpet” treatment for your special events.

The portions were a bit smaller than I was expecting but then again I’m from the U.S. so our portions vary.

The food was amazing, great flavor and the spice was tolerable not bad at all. We ordered Chicken Mangalore, Chicken, Rice and 2 Garlic Naans. Everything tasted great and full of flavor.

The service was also excellent. The staff seated us promptly without a reservation. The wait for food was minimal, and was brought out shortly (8-10 min) after ordering.

We thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful birthday lunch with my family at Masala Zone, Piccadilly Circus. From the moment we arrived, the experience was warm and welcoming.

We had requested a specific table in advance, and the staff were extremely accommodating, ensuring we were comfortably seated.

The menu offered a delightful selection of authentic Indian dishes representing flavours from different regions of India.

We particularly loved the Malai Tikka, which was perfectly tender and creamy, the Lamb Sliders that were juicy and well-seasoned, and the Karwari Crispy Prawns, which were wonderfully crisp and packed with flavour.

The Rogan Josh and Prawns Thali made for a perfect main course, both filling and absolutely delicious.

A special mention goes to Pranami, our server, who was friendly and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our visit. The warm service added a personal touch to our birthday celebration and truly enhanced the overall dining experience.

Overall, Masala Zone delivered a memorable dining experience with great food & excellent service!

We are very much looking forward to our next visit and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Indian cuisine in the heart of London.

Great experience yet again….we have nearly done all their branches….all of them quite good in all aspects. Bang on Piccadilly this one is great location. One thing for sure is this one had more space and classier ambience than the SOHO one.

Vegetarian options limited but taste is great and and tgat keeps bringing us back.

Staff quite helpful, smiling, ready to serve. Our host was Pranami, a young girl who made our evening further special.

Good job Masala zone for keeping people with the right attitude!

Walked in expecting “just another central London Indian”… walked out emotionally attached to a thali.

From the outside, Masala Zone looks fairly understated. Step inside and BAM — grand interiors, high ceilings, proper “British-Raj-meets-desi-royalty” vibes. The kind of place where you instinctively straighten your back and suddenly want to order everything.

Food-wise? Solid. Proper. Comforting in that ghar-jaisa but better way.
The pani puri brought instant childhood nostalgia (and yes, I judged the pani — it passed with flying colours). Vada pav was soft, spiced, and dangerously moreish. Lamb kebabs were smoky and tender — the kind that make the table go quiet for a minute.

The veg thali deserves a standing ovation. Balanced, generous, and thoughtfully put together — not just “here’s some bowls,” but a proper, well-planned spread. Biryani was fragrant, layered, and not shy with flavour (or portion size — thank you).

Cocktails deserve a special mention because Indian restaurants often treat them like an afterthought. Not here. These were playful, well-balanced, and actually designed to go with the food — which is rarer than you’d think.

Service was warm and efficient, even with the Piccadilly buzz outside. And yes, it’s busy — because good food + great location = queues. Worth it.

Let’s just say… if you’re someone who eats first, films later, and takes Indian food very seriously, this place delivers.
(Some of us might even run a food page and still genuinely enjoy it )

Would I come back? Absolutely.
Would I bring family? 100%.
Would I order more than necessary again? Without question.

We chose Masala Zone for our first anniversary dinner, and it turned out to be the perfect decision. Although we arrived a bit earlier than our reservation, the staff kindly accommodated us without any issue.
This wasn’t my first visit, and it’s easy to see why I keep coming back the food is always delicious and consistently excellent, which is exactly why I trusted it for such a special night.A heartfelt thank you to manager Damodar and Christy for going the extra mile. They remembered my note about the occasion, gave us a warm anniversary greeting, and made the evening truly memorable. We especially enjoyed the Malai Chicken Tikka. The food came out in good time and the service throughout was attentive and friendly.

Enjoyed their veg thali and Mango Srikhand. Paneer Makhanwala was good but not amazing. Daal, mix veg and aloo methi were really nice. Mango Srikhand was yum too. Recommended

Masala Zone is such an underrated gem in central! I absolutely loved the Chilli Garlic Desi Potato Chips and the daal makhani was incredibly delicious. The starters were all great, and the Bombay Vada Pao Sliders were a standout!

Unfortunately, the Malai Chicken Tikka wasn’t fresh – it had a noticeable smell and taste. We mentioned it to the staff and the manager personally came over, apologized multiple times and handled the situation really well.

Overall, the service was excellent, and they took our feedback seriously. I’ll definitely be coming back next time to try their biryani!

The food here is amazing (10/10), but the service stands out even more. The staff were so friendly and smiley, and they were incredibly helpful with my husband’s allergy requests, which put me at ease. If you visit, check out the chicken dish in my attached photo!

The Indian Pride bang on Piccadilly Circus!

I have been here couple of times now & hence thought of shed light on its pros n cos!

Pro’s- Great Location, Delicious Food, Amazing Ambience and a must try Chicken Mangalore Dish! Just superb & mouthwatering ! Service and staff are too good. Well trained, well behaved!

Con’s- This is probably me being a middle class! But felt bit pricey! The “Thali” is meant to be covering all items whilst in this restaurant you have an option to choose either Chapati (Bread) or rice with 4 various dishes of vegetables and/or meat dish.

Overall, if you visit this place once, you can’t avoid the temptation to go there again & that speaks everything!
