Awesome food, high quality ingredients, clean area, super friendly staff and they’re all so good at what they do, here’s my Indian food stop in town

Had a very nice dinner/lunch here! Prices make sense for the portion sizes. Had the Chicken Masala and it was really good! I’m not very spice tolerant but I was still able to enjoy it. I will note the drinks are not pasteurized. Thanks!

The food here is sooooooo gooooood. But that’s not even what pushed me to write this review. It’s been 9 hours since I ate that delicious lunch, but what I can’t stop thinking about is how nice the people who work there are. I had a really great experience at Masala Kitchen today. Please go there and give them all of your business. All of the business! All of it!

We had an awesome lunch here! The food is As authentic as can be right on Penn‘s campus. Very flavorful and not crazy spicy. My kids are going to be on campus for the next four years and I expect that they will probably just live here!!

Absolutely delicious l. Spiced to perfection. Got the MK Special with Lamb and Chicken and one of the rolls.
Roll was stuffed with meat a great value for the price and just I cannot over state how tasty. The naan was super fluffy and flavorful as well. 10/10

I was really excited when I saw they were going to open Masala Kitchen earlier in 2025 and since I’ve become a regular. It’s one of my favorite quick service restaurants in University City. Biryani here is really good and they got me craving Limca with each meal. As a regular, would recommend!

Masala Kitchen in University City is one of those reliable spots you can count on when you’re craving flavorful Indian street food on the go. Their kati rolls are the real deal—soft paratha wraps filled with perfectly seasoned meat or paneer, onions, and chutneys that hit just the right balance of spice and tang. I’ve tried a few variations, but the chicken tikka and paneer masala rolls are my personal favorites—fresh, messy in a good way, and totally satisfying.
The menu’s not huge, but what they do, they do well. If you’re pairing up something sweet, don’t skip the mango lassi. It’s chilled, creamy, and tastes like a dessert after a spicy roll—definitely a must-order. Portion sizes are generous for the price, and service is fast enough for a quick lunch stop between classes or errands. The vibe is casual and bustling, so it’s great for takeout or a laid-back bite with friends. Worth coming back again!

I got the biryani and it was fine. but it definitely felt like the tame version of what you would actually get. It felt like it needed more flavor. Not salted enough and the spices felt like it needed to be stronger. Staff were nice and quick. The music was not my fave but whatever.

I went for dine-in. The biryani was too salty and dry. The staff had a very bad attitude and didn’t even serve the food properly. Instead, they waited at the cashier and only handed me the food when I came out of the washroom.
When I asked for hot water, they refused and said they only had tap water, which wasn’t even served. When I asked for an additional plate, the staff was hesitant and said the food was already served on a plate.
Overall, the behavior was very disrespectful and unprofessional. I would not recommend this place, it’s not worth your money.
