We tried the vegetable pakora and the onion bhajis to start. Both came with a very small amount of mint riata. The onion bhaji was very hard to eat and had little to no onion. The vegetable pakora was good, but shaped like what I know to be an onion bhaji!
For mains we got the butter chicken Dosa and the paneer tikka masala rice bowl. The dosa dish was tasty, and unusual in that the curry came in a crepe. There was a strange spicy watery liquid and a spicy coconut side not sure what these were, but not appealing. The paneer was nothing like the Tikka Masalas I am used to, but was pleasant – would have benefited from having a touch more sauce..
The restaurant was empty when we arrived at 7pm on a Sunday evening. The food took quite a while to come so was obviosly made to order..
The mains however came seperately and one dish was almost eaten by the time the second one arrived!
The decor was pretty and the staff were very pleasant.
Overall tasted like run of the mill indian food with the dosa as something a little out of the ordinary. Would it be enough to bring us back? Possibly not.
Right at the start, she threw the menu onto the table without even a greeting or a hello — just a cold, unfriendly face. When I asked her about certain dishes on the menu, she simply said, “I don’t know,” and stood there. She didn’t make any effort to check with the kitchen or offer more information.
I ordered Gobi 65, which turned out to be plain fried cauliflower with no seasoning. The onion rings were the same — bland and flavorless. The pasta was another letdown; the sauce was watery and separated, as shown in the picture. When I asked for some seasoning, she told me they didn’t have anything… seriously? Eventually, she gave us just oregano — no chili flakes — and told us to “use salt and pepper.”
The only positive note was another waitress who was polite and kind, but the one who took our order had a nasty attitude and no interest in providing decent service. Definitely not a place I would recommend, especially with so many better options around.
The dipping sauce that goes with the samosa was very good.
My friend got the butter chicken poutine and I had the chicken korma wrap. Both were great. I asked it for spicy and it delivered but was not overwhelming by any means.
Will be back!
The Chana Masala was great also I loved the vegetable samosas.
Would highly recommend!
One suggestion, make a Naan that is vegan 🙂 😉
