Looking for a fancy restaurant, or a decent #halal #ChickenFry #burgers #Indian #Pakistani food with the best price in York’s neighborhood? If latter is the case, you will be pleasantly surprised that in a tiny little space next to the gas station, these options are available at very reasonable price with the right quantity.

With light rain, nothing works better than enjoying fresh hot #samosa with tamarind sauce close to homemade than the runny one we see in most of the commercial restaurants. #ChickenBiryani was mildly hot to enjoy the spices and flavor. There are only 3-4 tables but clean

Ordered butter chicken platters for lunch. The food was fresh and delicious! Large entree portion over rice with a salad. Friendly service, clean kitchen & good food handling practices observed. Excited to have this cuisine available as a takeout option nearby & looking forward to trying other menu items.

I REALLY wanted to like this place. I appreciate small businesses and this one seems to be trying to start an Indian restaurant out of gas station.

I called ahead to see what Indian dishes were available since I only saw two online — Butter Chicken, and Chicken Biryani. They confirmed that those two were the only dishes always available. There are some others if you’re able to order ahead 2-3 hours in advance. I get it. They can only stock what sells and until you have a consistent base buying Indian dishes, you stock what people are most likely to purchase at a gas station — which in this instance is fried chicken, potato wedges, etc. So with the limited options, I ordered the butter chicken. I told them I was 10 minutes away and they said it would be ready when I arrived.

I arrived 10 minutes later and they had not begun making anything. It’s a subway style setup where you can see them prep your food on a line. There’s only a single gentlemen working and he’s doing front and back of the house work. So he takes your order, cooks in the back, and preps and packages up front. It wound up taking another 15 minutes for my naan and butter chicken to be reheated, and some tomatoes and lettuce to be chopped up and thrown into a styrofoam container. Part of the delay was the gentleman having to take and service other orders in parallel.

The gentlemen was very nice, I appreciated that he wore gloves while prepping the food, and took them off to handle money but overall this was not a good experience.

Based on the terrific reviews I thought the Indian would be very good. It was not. The rice was overcooked, and reheated — so therefore bloated and limp. The butter chicken sauce was split from being reheated, and even if it was fresh made it was under seasoned so it likely would still have been very bland. The naan tastes like the frozen premade naan you reheat in your oven.

I love Indian food, and was hopeful for this place, but I think there’s a bit of a chicken and egg situation going on. They can’t make great Indian food here if they don’t have the audience to buy it, but they won’t garner the audience if they don’t make great Indian food.

We live right near Wellspan hospital and we took a risk trying the food here when we saw the Masala Express sign on the gas station. To our surprise the food was VERY good and the tikka masala is so flavorful. They even have garlic naan and Lassi! The employees were so helpful and very sweet! So happy to have customers. Spread the word!

My Husband and I stopped here this evening. We both tried the Butter Chicken. It was very tasty. The price is very reasonable. We will absolutely be back. Probably call ahead the next time to try some other dishes. As far as atmosphere … it’s a gas station. Can’t do a whole lot about that! We took it home to eat.

I ordered two orders of buttered chicken and some chicken strips for delivery late on 09/25 the buttered chicken was pasty thick and literally had almost no chicken whatsoever I was totally disappointed it was a waste of money the chicken strips were good but I ordered here because I was looking forward to some Indian food I won’t be back unfortunately

One of those great little Indian/whatever gas stations with random products and some half decent gas station gas station fried chicken.

We got fried chicken, biscuits, and fries. The fried chicken was fresh, flavorful, and delicious, the fries were thick cut and hit the spot, and the biscuits are on the sweeter side and are buttery and fresh! The owner was very kind and courteous! The store is Muslim owned and the food they sell is all zabiha halal! Definitely worth trying!
