I called in a to-go order for my fiancé, Masago has been one of our new favorite sushi places since moving nearby. When I placed the order, I was never told the total but figured I could pay cash or card. I knew the cash price is discounted since my fiancé is always the one to pick it up, so I brought what I believed would be enough.
When I arrived, I realized I was $5 short in cash. I politely asked if one of the rolls could be paid for with a credit card. The cashier responded with the worst attitude I have ever experienced. To the point where I genuinely considered walking out. I calmly explained, “I didn’t know the cash price when I called in—sorry I didn’t bring enough cash.” She responded with a snarky comment, saying, “I can’t charge card. We don’t do that.”
She then proceeded to ring the order up as both cash and card anyway, but the entire time she was rolling her eyes and acting as though ringing me up was a burden. It truly felt like she didn’t want to serve me at all.
I then asked if spicy mayo was included (which I had ordered). She replied, “You never told me, so you don’t have one.” I asked if I could purchase one, and she walked to the back mumbling something I couldn’t understand, then tossed/slid the sauce cup into the bag without saying a word.
Management should absolutely look into this. No customer should ever be treated this way. This occurred on January 17, 2026 around 2:50 PM. The woman was wearing a pink sweater that said “Friday.” If that individual was management, shame on you for treating customers this way.
I always give people the benefit of the doubt—everyone has bad days. But rolling your eyes and acting annoyed simply because a customer is purchasing food from your business is unacceptable.
When signing the receipt, I paused to wait for my customer copy and never received one. I left without a single thank you from her. The only person who acknowledged us was a waitress sitting in a booth who kindly called out, “Thank you, have a good day,” in a genuine and polite way.
I was with a friend, and the entire time she looked extremely uncomfortable due to how I was being treated. When we left, she was shocked and said I should have called the cashier out for her behavior. It was truly awful.
I will never step foot in this restaurant again after feeling so unwelcome.
If management would like to reach out I would be more than happy to discuss further.
If you pay in cash, your bill is 50% off- this is an unheard of deal. As a result of this deal and due to popularity, the food is always fresh here. I recommend the sweet potato roll as a vegetarian option- very tasty!
Like others I was skeptical of the discount for cash but i guess… Just make sure you bring cash? Quality is pretty decent and paying cash makes the prices really reasonable (not paying cash makes it a bit steep) although some items like the hibachi dinners do not come with a discount.
