Sushi tonight
Masa is our sushi place. It’s like home. We had to go to another sushi restaurant because masa was all booked up. I wanted to cry because these other places just don’t compare. Masa is the real deal. High quality fish. Great menu selections. Welcoming and friendly staff that we’ve come to know and love. Everything they make tastes fresh and delicious. If your reading this because your trying to find a new place to try for dinner, this is the one.

They were very nice to let us in at 8.30pm the day before Thanksgiving. The food was delicious. The fish was tender and flavourful. The white rice alone was super good. Will definitely come back and probably check if they have lunch specials during the week.

I ordered spicy chicken tempura and a shrimp tempura roll to go. It wasn’t bad but the portions are too small. My grand total was $27.72 for two items.

Updating my review because I have since eaten at Masa several times for lunch and dinner, including the omakase course! My original review is included below. Masa is some of the best sushi you can get in the area, and at a reasonable price. The omakase course is sooo good, and at $90 it’s much cheaper than other omakase options in the area and in NYC. It is definitely worth the price, and make sure you come hungry! The omakase course is perfect for a nice date night or to celebrate something, especially since you can bring your own champagne or other alcoholic beverages since the restaurant is BYOB. I can’t recommend Masa enough if you’re in the mood for sushi!
Original review: I always receive great, high quality sushi when I come to Masa. I haven’t yet come here for dinner, but their lunch combos are delicious and an amazing value. The food also always comes out quickly. I will definitely be coming back in the future.

We enjoyed the food and the service was attentive!
We ordered the Sushi Sashimi combo, the Black Cod Misozuke, and the Tempura Calamari. The black cod was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The addition of the potatoes, carrots, and string beans offset the umami from the miso.
The Sushi Sashimi combo was generally very good. The fish was cut well and the variety is what you could expect. Unfortunately one of our pieces of salmon sashimi was a bit on the fishy side. I couldn’t tell by looking at it and it was the only one but that was the difference between 4 and 5 stars.
The atmosphere is more date night than family dinner. Atmosphere in the front room was mainly for takeout and that is understandable, but the side room was a bit worn where the ceiling tiles were showing water stains that have aged.
I would be back soon as the value and general experience is good.

Participated in the Omakase dining experience. Extremely generous portions, well thought out, fresh, beautifully presented, variety of familiar and unfamiliar items. One of the dishes was a black cod soup. The fish was crispy , well seasoned and delicate. The broth had a thick jello consistency. It was by far one of the most interesting dishes in the experience, and very delicious. The fish stayed perfectly crisp even after sitting in the broth for some time. Exceptional service. Very clean establishment. Would highly recommend.

Dear sushi lovers, this place is amazing!!
We have been coming here since it opened maybe a decade ago. The fish is always fresh and the rice is always the right consistence and mild favor.
The service is spot on and the tea is hot and plenty.
There are places in Manhattan, ie/ sushi of Gari, Blue Ribbon which will rival but they will be double the price.
I love Masa so much. I try to come here as often as the wallet will allow. It is also BYOB!!
In the photos is the sushi sashimi omakase, chirashi, crazy roll, lucky roll, and 3 roll combo.
The sushi just explodes with flavor. Other than Fort Lee/Edgewater which is a bit of a hike, I have not been able to find similar quality in NJ.

Food was better a while ago. Quality and portions have decreased, while the prices have gone up. Always feel rushed too. And can never sit in the main dining room.

I highly recommend this restaurant. Even though there are many Japanese sushi restaurants in Northern Jersey, it is quite difficult to find a good authentic one. My wife and I had their sushi for two. I was highly impressed. The pieces were quite big and everything tasted very fresh. We also order ankimo for an appetizer. It is very difficult to find ankimo in New Jersey. In the nearly 20 years I’ve been here, I only had it at a few restaurants. This place’s ankimo tasted just like it does in Japan. My kids had the nabeyaki udon. It even came with clams. It was also very delicious.
