Found this little gem as we ventured off the interstate toward Florida. Excellent reviews convinced us to make the stop. We were welcomed with an immediate warm greeting and we were well taken care of the entire time we were there! Food was great. We are the gumbo and friend chicken as well as loaded mashed potatoes (sooo good!), friend green tomatoes, green beans and dirty rice. We also ordered a Philly cheesesteak and kids’ chicken tenders which looked and tasted homemade! Great find!

The most delicious food! The best fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, and green beans. Just like grandma used to make. Wonderful atmosphere and the kindest service. They really do treat you like family. Highly recommend!!

The fried chicken was the best we’ve ever had! Very gracious and friendly owners serve you with a smile. Everything is homemade, which is hard to find these days.

I haven’t left a review on a restaurant in a while, but Mary Ruth’s was too good not to say something about it. We were lucky enough to stop by on their all you can eat seafood night! Worth every penny, as they loaded our plates to the brim with fantastic food. Their fried catfish was phenomenal and their fried shrimp even better. The strawberry cake tasted homemade and was some of the best I’ve had! The service and other customers were friendly and welcoming and felt like we were neighbors instead of strangers passing through off I-65, headed to Mobile from Tennessee. We’re super thankful we chose Mary Ruth’s to stop at for dinner!

Like you were visiting your grandmother. This food is so good that we bought a whole pan of dessert and a bunch of wings to take back to our children and grandchildren. This food is so good you will be licking your fingers!

We stopped here on our way to Florida. We were very pleased. The home-cooking and service was excellent. It had a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. It’s right off Interstate 65. It was a win-win for my family! We will return.

My girls said they saw the gates of heaven when they bit into the fried chicken! That about sums up this quaint restaurant just off I-65. Definitely worth the drive, less than 1 mile to the east. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff, serving up the standard southern dishes. The cornbread is the best I’ve ever eaten and I’ve eaten a lot of cornbread; no butter needed. And don’t forget the desserts. Worth every calorie!
