Mary Mahoney’s Old French House Restaurant, Biloxi, Mississippi

It’s a family affair with lots of history dating back to 1737! The house itself is one of the oldest along the coast and has survived many hurricanes.

The cutest restaurant ever!!! The vibe really makes you feel right at home!! Our server was excellent. The Brussel sprouts were delicious. My Husband really liked the seafood gumbo. There is a really nice outdoor patio area. Don’t forget to check out Patriarch before you leave. I highly recommend you try this restaurant if you are in the area. I just wish they have more of a vegan selection.

What a disappointment! We are foodies that do not discriminate- I’ve had disappointing Michelin star meals to 5-star food trucks. Atmosphere means nothing without flavor. We were recommended MM’s by so many friends and family members. Made reservations and drove from Mobile. Atmosphere was ok. Waitress was nice but unprofessional- she kept leaning over the table and chairs to chat, which is fine but when other staff displayed white glove service to neighboring tables, it was confusing.

But the food! we were SO bummed! It was gross (see photos) & BLAND. Everything was unseasoned. The creamed spinach was burnt and completely inedible (they took it off tab in all fairness) The veal was mushy and flavorless, pasta watery, and the bread pudding tasted like sugary mud. It was not what we expected. The crab claws were decent and truffle fries were fire! But for $189+tip I want more than good fries. I feel like MM was a wonderful restaurant at one time, but is running on outdated reputation and kept afloat with casino $$. Maybe it was an off night but I won’t chance it again. Included photos of bathroom bc it was gross too

From the gumbo, to the king filet and the queen ilxolib fish, the drinks. Our fabulous waiter Keith, the lovely hostess on the coldest night in Biloxi in years, this place didn’t miss a beat. Lovely people, lovely history, Mary Mahoney was a woman to be reveled. We need to keep this Era of hardworking, Americans and their businesses alive, this place is doing that and as long as they do, I will continue to come here. Thank you and God bless.

We were in town for our honeymoon and everyone told us we needed to try Mary Mahoney’s. Made reservations, got seated immediately, greeted pretty quick. Then it was down hill from there.

Ordered the gumbo for appetizers and it was actually really good! While we waited for our salads, three more tables were seated next to us. These new tables ordered their food way after us and got their food way before us. We asked about our food and we were told it was because the cook of one of our steaks. But there is no way 15 people were served before one medium well steak could be cooked.

Hate to be this person but we were very very disappointed! Maybe it was a fluke, maybe it never happens but we will not be back. The server only took off half my meal even though my lobster was over cooked and my steak was way under. Unfortunate very disappointing honeymoon dinner. Not the way we wanted to end our vacation.

Simply amazing service and seafood. Everything is made on site and the fish is just so fresh. Truly a hallmark of my visit to Biloxi. Please try the dishes you see in my photos and you will not be disappointed. We can’t wait to go back

the exterior is so charming! You are transported to New Orleans by walking through the cute courtyard. The restaurant is an old historic building and I’m so glad they keep it true to the original. The drinks were done perfectly. I finally had a great Manhattan after spending a few days in Biloxi! We ordered the Presidential Platter for $54, which comes with broiled crab claws and fried soft shell crab. Omg – just both perfectly done. The fried crab was so light and the broiled claws were swimming in this delicious Cajun butter. For lunch, we got the Queen Ixolib & gumbo. The gumbo looked very light but it actually tasted amazing. It had a slight kick to it. And the amount of meat they give is so generous! The Queen Ixolib Stuffed Fish was big enough to share. (The pic I posted is of a half serving.) the tomato over angel hair pasta was so good despite looking so simple. I crushed the fresh tomato into the pasta. The fish and stuffing were really good and plenty of meat. For dessert, we ordered the Praline Sundae, which is vanilla bean ice cream with layer of praline caramel sauce. I can’t think of anything more decadent. It was such a perfect way to end our perfect Southern seafood meal. I would absolutely visit here again – it’s a Must!

If you’re in town, you for sure need to stop in and have lunch or dinner at Mary’s. So much old history here. Even if you just stop in and have a drink at the bar, you will tons things to see and learn about Mary’s and the area around it.

The food is amazing, which I expected it to be. We had the crab claws and shrimp cocktail as an app. And then the Mary’s chicken, fried shrimp and crab stuff shrimp and oh man we were all full and happy when done along with the amazing customer service we had every step of the way. We were too full to get dessert, but I’m sure it’s good as well.

Around th area is some houses turned into businesses that are super nice to walk the court yard and enjoy the atmosphere.

I will for sure be back some time.

Excellent atmosphere. Perfect accommodations for most size groups. The menu had a good selection with good description. I recommend reservations as I was solo and wasn’t easy to sit during the week.

Server Alli made our lunch experience extra special. First time at the restaurant. The food quality, service exceeded all expectations. The stuffed flounder was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The shrimp and Crab Au Gratin would compete with any restaurant that I’ve dined in France. The dining setting is quiet, clean, you can enjoy a good conversation. The glass wine section is limited but nice, bottle options much larger. Can’t wait to try the dinner menu.

Although I’m fairly local I have not stopped in for quite a while. It was mid afternoon and being alone I sat at the bar. The atmosphere was perfect and my bartender/waitress (Chelsea) was attentive and personable. I had stuffed flounder which was delicious as well as the salad and bread that went along with it. It’s a great place.
