Delicious Japanese cuisine in a central location. The sashimi was fresh, tempura was crispy and the ramen noodles has a nice bite to it. The meat of the ramen is a bit sweet and the (chicken) broth is slightly too salty but its flavors season the noodles well. On a busy friday evening we waited around 30 minutes without reservation, and got placed near the restrooms, but upon complaint the staff were friendly and attentive to resolve the seating situation. The food arrived quickly and we were very satisfied with both the dishes and the matcha. The environment was cozy and well decorated.

The food was wonderful. I do have a few observations to share. The spice level is exceptionally high, even for those of us who frequently explore diverse cuisines. Additionally, it appears that if one arrives at 12:00, there is typically a wait until 12:40 before kitchen operations commence. Perhaps adjusting the opening time to 12:30 might be more reflective of the actual service availability, as this seems to be a consistent occurrence.

Heard lots of good things about this restaurant and was excited to try this it for the first time last week. They sure lived up to the expectation. We were greeted with a friendly lady who showed us our table. They gave us some nori wasabi cracker as a welcome snack, which was delicious. We had sushi, sashimi, and wagyu donburi. Everything was very delicious, we especially LOVED the donburi! Honorable mention for the homemade iced tea, it was incredibly refreshing! After we finished and asked for the check, they surprised us with pre-packaged cool, damp towels and a hand fragrance to freshen up before we left. I personally think this was really thoughtful. Definitely would love to come again!

It’s a pleasant surprise! I usually go to places that serves pork so we weren’t sure what to expect here.
Ordered:
karaage miso ramen 18€ (+1€ for spicy version)- I really liked that their soup is towards the lighter side compared to to a lot of other ramen places. The combination is great.
Gyudon 28€ – nicely grilled beef w rice
The end was what’s more surprising considering their affordable prices and convenient location, they had heated towels, really good quality as well. Honestly impressed because this is how you expect hospitality back home but it’s too much to ask in NL aall in all , this is such a great experience.

Everything here was incredible. Add in the fact that the place is proudly Palestinian-supporting and 100% halal meant that I just had to eat here! The ramen and chicken karaage was one of the best I’ve had and the prawn sushi with avocado mousse was just beautiful. Staff were all super lovely and the restaurant has a lovely calm atmosphere. They also sell some gorgeous keffiyeh hijabs and other japanese products. Would definitely come again if I was staying in Rotterdam longer ❤️

I was quite skeptical before going to Maruki, I had been to a few japanese restaurants and decided this cuisine wasn’t for me. My husband loves it though and we went for his birthday. I must say we were both impressed! The food was amazing, delicious with fresh ingredients and interesting and subtle taste combinations, the staff and serving very friendly and laid back. I really liked the ambience as well, good lighting, nice interior design without it being overwhelming. I feel like maybe I still don’t know if I like japanese food, but I absolutely love this restaurant and my husband was very pleased with the choice. All in all, a great experience, we will definately be back for some date nights!

I can’t praise this establishment highly enough! It’s a contemporary and minimalist eatery with warm, attentive service and a strong commitment to supporting Palestine. And let’s not forget the exquisite food. I relished every dish we tried, with the standout for me being the sushi.

recently visited Maruki in Rotterdam, and it was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. The atmosphere is inviting—stylish yet relaxed—making it a perfect spot whether you’re out with friends, on a date, or simply treating yourself.
The food was beautifully prepared, full of fresh flavors and great attention to detail. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted, and the presentation was just as impressive as the taste. The staff were genuinely friendly, attentive without being intrusive, and happy to offer recommendations, which made the experience even better.
What stood out most was the overall balance: great ambiance, delicious dishes, and warm service that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in. Maruki Rotterdam is definitely a place I’d return to and happily recommend to anyone looking for a memorable meal in the city.
The Staff was incredible and welcome, Sulaiman was especially kind and helpful Mashallah, and a woman there ( I forgot her name she was from London also, she helped picked the best food) would definitely go again

Maruki was a great surprise. We have been trying different places in Blaak and this one felt like a fresh and nice addition to the restaurants of the area.
We got there without reservation and we were able to get a table asap. The staff were welcoming and helpful.
The place has a clean Japanese aesthetic. But still making you feel cozy to enjoy your meal in companionship of friends / family.
We ordered the Maruki special ramen. Definitely recommended. Creative and unique combination of ingredients, bringing together a mix of Asian flavors. If you like spicy this option is the one!. In addition, we took the salmon donburi. The presentation and portion were good. Taste was there but it was not as nice as the ramen. We missed some extra flavor in the salmon. But overall still decent option to go for.
Drinks were very nice too. We ordered yuzu cucumber and a homemade iced tea.
We will definitely go back
