Great place for quick meal.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Udon was fresh and had a nice texture (smooth and chewy), broth was rich. Pork were slightly on the salty side.
Tempura were tasty.

This was so good!!! I got the new Tomatama Curry bowl and I loved it. I’ve never tried udon before but I’m so glad I had a chance to try it today. I also got a cheese and sweet potato tempura. I honestly wanted to get back in line for more. That sweet potato was the best (though I may be biased b/c sweet potatoes are a fave). And to top it off I got the pineapple sunrise. Super refreshing. This was exactly what I needed after a long day of traveling. Plus the artwork and vibe was super cute.

We ordered the BK large

He brought back a regular size and after we clarifiy the size we preferred he brings back the BK large hot. We are Japanese. BK is normally served cold. We ask for a cold large BK and he seems to get frustrated for NOT ASKING THE CUSTOMER PREFERENCE TO AN ITEM THAT HAS TWO OPTIONS. After the dish if finally corrected the fourth time…. The server looks over at the manager and apologizes to him…. Never did he address an apology to us. Do we need to be difficult and irate to receive an apology?? The manager says “its ok”. It’s not ok… i dont doubt the same mistake will be made with such lack of correction. Please train and correct your staff accordingly .

Very upset the location in Sawtelle is better equipped to serve udon.

Food here is always good. First and last time at this location unfortunately.

It was a rainy day, so I wanted some hot soup. I decided to try out this place since I pass it almost every day. I stepped inside to pick up my order and it is quite noisy and smelly from burning oil (I hate it when the clothes smell afterwards and I was there less than 10minutes). But it’s all fine, the biggest disappointment was when I saw the amount of broth in the packaging, even as I specifically requested a larger amount; what I got was a quarter of the container. The restaurant sent me a customer satisfaction survey in which I shared my disappointment. Soon I got a reply saying that it is the new packaging that make it seem like a small amount. That wasn’t convincing so then I was told the portion is 12oz. Since I actually didn’t start my dinner, I sent the video of me measuring the amount of liquid which clearly stated 9oz. And I never got a reply back. Don’t ruin your rainy day, just look elsewhere where they actually value customer’s time and don’t keep the broth.

Ok! First, I must admit that it has been nearly a decade since I was consistently dining on Japanese cuisine in Japanese. However, that being said, Marugame Udon has mastered the flavors, experiences, and quality of Japanese dining in this light-filled and friendly little shop.

Here I was energetically greeted with いっらしゃいませ(irrashaimase!) as I made my way in the front doors. The server made polite inquiry of my request and engaged with professionalism and great service decorum. As my order of large Tonkatsu Udon was made from hand-made noodles, I began my way down the self serve counter. Ruby, a most friendly and helpful server, explained that once I received my Udon, I could add my favorite tempura. Be sure to look for Ruby! She’s a tempura master!

I added my Ito En branded o-cha to my order and dove in! To my surprise and delight—mouth-watering broth, plentiful pork loin strips, and perfectly prepared noodles! I opted for the additional green onions and tempura flakes, along with the sweet potato and squid tempura. Both excellent choices! And if you have other favorites, there are plenty to choose from. And Ruby will make you a fresh one if you like!! Again, just ask.

Clean. Tasty. Energetic and fun atmosphere. Plenty of seating for families and groups with outdoor options on the patio too!

If it turns out your eyes are bigger than your head, dive into the take-home container area and package your things just how you like.

Oh! And if you prefer the order kiosk machine—go for it! Just be sure to connect with Ruby; she seems like a real gem.

Totally fine for a quick bite. Most of the toppings are tempura and fried, they have steamed veggies, and soft boiled egg if you don’t want tempura. I think having dumplings that aren’t deep fried would be a good addition.

The portions are very small for price. They measure out but the measuring bowl has food stuck on it already. The broth is one scoop and the difference between the large and small bowls is very similar its mostly a bigger bowl and extra noodles a just a bit more broth. Asked the manager about the bathroom and she was very disinterested didn’t even provide the code.
