My wife wanted to try this place as she’s a big fan of ramen. We both got a bowl of the Hakata Tonkotsu DX. But not before starting with a few appetizers, like their Marufuku bites and classic Takoyaki.
The food was filling but I liked the appetizers more. I would try their curry next time.
We tried their hot sake but it wasn’t a favorite. We would try their cold ones next time.
Staff was very friendly and attentive. Kept our water glasses full and made us feel welcome.

Totally wanted to be impressed. Noodles were delicious, not gonna lie. They were a great tenderness and consistency. The broth was a lot less oily than I was expecting for a Hakata/Fukuoka style tonkotsu. I’m still trying to get used to canned corn kernels in ramen. I know people dig it. I’m just not there yet. Attentive staff. Coming from Hawaii/Japan, Marufuku was just ok for us.

Place was very busy and loud, it was hard to hear my partner. We had to sign up for a waitlist, but that’s okay. The staff was nice and friendly, I can see how they’re trying to copy the Japanese way of welcoming the customer, having a Gachapon machine etc.

I ordered Hakata Tonkotsu ramen. I found the broth very creamy and very mushroomy in flavor which kinda took me out of the Japanese fantasy and made me feel more like I was eating a fancy mushroom soup. The ingredients themself were tasty, but the broth just didn’t hit the spot for me. It was tasty, but not what I wanted/expected at all. I also found 2 super thin slices of meat to not be enough for the soup ratio.

This place was so so so good. There was definitely a bit of a wait, but once we got seated the service was incredibly fast. We ordered within minutes, and a few minutes later we were served all of our food. The food was amazing, the pork was so tender and the pork broth was so flavorful. Highly recommend!

I’ve always been a big fan of ramen, and this place is definitely one of my top two recommendations in the East Bay/Oakland area! The only other spot I’d suggest is Mensho on Piedmont Ave. I’ve been coming here for years, and my favorite is always the Chicken Paitan DX. The broth is always so rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of umami and not too much salt. I absolutely love when that grilled, sizzling chicken leg comes out—it’s just so delicious! You can try their other sides and appetizers, but this order will fill you up pretty fast. The staff are always super attentive, and the restaurant has a perfect vibe for a date night or just hanging out with friends. Plus, the line is much shorter than the one in San Francisco Japantown. I’m a huge fan of this restaurant and would highly recommend it to all ramen lovers!

This ramen place was on my list but always crowded and today I got to expect it. I didn’t try anything other than the spicy tantan noodles but felt it was no more than a 4. The noodles were very tough, the broth tasted very powdery and the grounded chicken was a no-op.

I also don’t like how they don’t have opinionated authentic vs spicy broths and offer any spice level with any broth. Tells me not proud of their work.

I ordered takeout on doordash and had their Hakata Tonkotsu, which came with a rich pork broth, chashu, seasoned soft boiled egg, green onions, kikurage mushrooms, and bean sprouts. Everything tasted really good, the broth was thick and full of flavor. For me, the noodle texture was a too firm, but aside from that, everything else was great!

Had some Takoyaki Balls and Black Garlic Tonkatsu soup it was one of the best Black Garlic I had, 2nd best to Ramen Hood from L.A., CA Grand Central Market. Everytime I am around the area I will be stopping by. Great side diplings for the Takoyaki balls. Fell in love with this place will be back again.

Went here with my partner and a couple of friends for a birthday celebration.
Used Yelp to RSVP. Service was great. The food was delicious. Atmosphere festive. As someone who is gluten intolerant but not celiac I was taking a little chance. Brought extra digestives, ordered the gluten free noodles. And I was fine! So for anyone in similar boat as me, take your digestives – double them up and enjoy the ramen!
We had a great experience.
