Honestly, this place cannot miss. The food was incredible, but the energy really keeps it moving.
Huge shout-out to Carlos and Simon—you guys have built something special here. Thanks for being great and making us feel so welcome. It’s easily has begun one of my favorite spots in the city.
If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and get a table. Thanks again for a dope evening and great soundtrack for the evening!
We waited over an hour, which I honestly would have been fine with if the food and overall experience were worth it. The service was just okay, but very slow. We ordered 10 rolls, and they took a very long time to come out.
While waiting, I couldn’t help but notice what felt like favoritism toward other customers. Since the rolls were being made right in front of us, it was impossible not to see what was happening. I repeatedly saw the chef take fresh ingredients to prepare rolls for other guests, and then use what appeared to be leftover scraps to prepare ours. At first I brushed it off, but after seeing it happen with multiple rolls, it became hard to ignore.
By the third or fourth roll, I was honestly ready to leave feeling disappointed. When you’re paying premium prices, you expect consistency and to feel valued as a customer.
They really need to focus on fair portions and consistent quality so that every guest feels taken care of — not just a select few.
Unfortunately, this visit did not justify the wait or the expense.
We waited in line for over an hour, which we didn’t mind because we had high expectations. Unfortunately, the food and service did not live up to them.
My husband ordered the 6 hand roll set and I ordered the 4 hand roll set plus the lobster roll. The Acevichado was good, and the spicy tuna was good but extremely spicy. Everything else was very difficult to eat.
The crab roll was overwhelmingly salty. The hamachi tasted fishy and also had too much salt – we couldn’t finish it. The scallop roll was bitter with excessive sauce and salt. The octopus roll was another disappointment; the combination of heavy salt and tomato sauce just didn’t work at all. We couldn’t finish most of the hand rolls. The lobster roll was the only one that was acceptable.
The service made the experience worse. We ordered wine and the Spanish wine glass came out with barely 1-1.5 oz because they said they had run out. I gave it to my husband and ordered the Napa wine instead. We were still charged for two full glasses. It’s not about the money – it’s the fact that the waiter didn’t acknowledge it or apologize.
By the end, our table was full of unfinished food. When the waiter came to bring the check, he didn’t ask how the food was or why we hadn’t eaten most of it.
Overall, a big disappointment after waiting over an hour. I wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend it.
