I could eat Marty’s at least 2-3 times a week. They have the best BBQ in town, and all of their food is home cooked with a southern taste to it. I see a bunch of negative reviews about the customer service & wait for food. But it’s only because they have a small family-oriented staff (keeping it in the family) & they’re so busy because their food is SO GOOD. All u have to do is call in & they’ll take care of you !

The barbecue at Marty’s is awesome! It isn’t the typical Eastern NC BBQ with an overpowering vinegar taste. This Q has a bit of kick thanks to a combination of hot pepper, smoke and other spices that when combined with a light amount of vinegar make it burst with flavor! Since only take-out is available, I called my order in 10 minutes before arriving and barely had to wait to pick it up. Once their dining room opens, I’ll be back for a proper sit-down lunch.

Waited 45 minutes for a chicken plate. It only takes chicken 20-25 minutes to cook. Customer service is very poor, and the nerve to get an attitude when I asked for my money back, because I didn’t want to wait any longer. The owner was in the kitchen talking junk, and thought I didn’t here her. When I step back around the corner to Co front she became very quiet. That’s not the way you treat customers by keeping them waiting and treating badly and talking about them in ear shot. I do not recommend this restaurant. #stayinyourhomekitchen

We got the “family chicken and pulled pork dinner” to go. Wait and price wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t pay a dime for any of their food again. I couldve made a better meal and more at home. The combo came with 3 small pieces of chicken that were kinda greasy like they had drained them on paper plates, and 1 decent chicken breast. And a pint of pulled pork. The pork had way too much vinegar (yes I know nc is vinegar style but it was over powering) not much flavor going on other than vinegar, and pretty tough. I had one small bite and left it. So moving on we got a mashed potato anf gravy pint and oddly the gravy was already on top of potatoes. Not a huge deal but id rather put my own gravy on. Next came our other side of baked beans. Straight out of the generic can with nothing else. Kinda gross. So I asked for a large side of green beans and was told they couldn’t do that. Why not? Because. Um ok. So for a family meal I got a little tiny and I mean tiny bit of green beans which was sad because that was the best part. Hush puppies were ok definitely store bought and dry but not bad. Customer service was awful. Border line just rude. Super unprofessional and unprepared for a friday night dinner ‘rush’. Guess I will go make some sandwiches. Wont order from here again for sure.
