Hello Hunny Bees!!! It’s your girl Hunny again giving a review of another local small business.
Upon entering we received a warm welcome. ✨️ Y’all know how much I love great customer service. I ordered the brisket and rib tips with Mac n cheese, candied yams and a side of greens. Michelle got the BBQ chicken with candied yams and Mac n cheese . The food satisfied our soul food craving. I was just diagnosed with diabetes so I welcomed that the candied yams weren’t too sweet but it was missing something (i.e. cinnamon, nutmeg) so I didn’t finish it. The Mac n cheese was okay I am a texture eater so it was a bit loose and needsome black pepper. The collard greens was good. The cornbread I didn’t like. The Brisket is my favorite it was good and the hot and mild sauce together is amazingly yummy . Michelle said her food was good amd she would come back again. I would come here because they have great customer service, the dining experience is relaxing, clean and warm.

If you live within a day’s drive of Martin’s Soul Food & BBQ and you don’t take time to check it out, you are missing out. Everything that was delivered to our table was amazing: beef brisket, pork ribs, perfectly roasted tender chicken, yams, cornbread, the best mac & cheese in the metro D.C. area, and sweet, delicious peach cobbler. All reasonably priced under $60 and packaged to feed our family of four. Everyone we met was wonderfully friendly and humble for having prepared a masterpiece of a family meal. Martin, sir, you are a genius.

First time here had the pulled spicy pork sandwich with cole slaw, side of red beans and rice and coller green. Everything was season to perfection the pulled pork sandwich was not over sauced and the put a little sauce on the side for those who like it a little sauce. Will be back to try more of their dishes. Thanks Martin you made my lunch a good one.

We ordered a large pork chop dinner, a ribs dinner and I ordered veggie order of 4 sides. Mainly wanted white rice and black eyed peas. I added collard greens and then I mentioned butter beans but switched to red beans and rice. After a 30 minute wait (probably for frying of pork chops) and $64, for my veggie order when I got home, I received greens, butter beans and red beans with rice in the bottom of it. No black eyed peas and white rice. Very disappointed. In addition, everything that we really wanted we could not order because they stop serving anything smothered as of 5pm and we arrived at 5:30. So get there before 5pm if you want smothered pork chops, Turkey wings or trotters.

Our family came here around 8pm on a Thursday. There weren’t any customers. We ordered 2 family meals for 8 people. The meals had ribs, chicken, brisket, cornbread, collard greens, and macaroni & cheese. The service was excellent. I live in Ohio. The food was so good, I asked my husband to stop by on our way home so I could bring my mother a plate. Give them a try. You won’t be disappointed.

We were greeted with a smile. I ordered the seafood platter. The shrimp would have tasted better if the breading wasn’t so thick. The collared greens and cabbage were tasty. My friend was disappointed with the meatloaf. The gravy was watery and meatloaf tasted like it came from a frozen dinner. The Mac and cheese was delicious.

The wings, croaker, and potato salad are always on point!! I usually order via a food delivery service. I actually went inside to order last week. The owner definitely needs to work on his customer service!!! I’ll call ahead next time to pick up my order next time. The wait time is entirely too long if you don’t call ahead.

1st time visiting this place today because I wanted some soul food. Well when I first walked in there I should’ve walked right back out. A soul food place with no other customers insight. A couple people eventually came in to pick up food. The smell of the restaurant could’ve been better. I couldn’t eat the food I ordered. Got sick to my stomach. The Yams tasted like they came straight out of a can and that’s not soul food. That’s Can Food. The Mac and cheese was ok but not a soul food tasting to my liking. The Whiting Fish was thin and kinda dry. 1st and last time for me. Sorry the uncovered food was a turn off too. I didn’t walk back out because I didn’t want to appear rude and wanted to support the business. Maybe if they got real fresh Yams, better homemade sides the place will get busier. Soul Food is supposed to be good! Especially when the meal cost over $16!

Food just sits out all day. It’s not fresh. Cabbage was salty. Candy yams were not sweet. Not sure what kind of meat was in the bake beans but very very dry. Red beans and rice didn’t have any flavor. The peach cobbler was new to me I think it had cake in there. I never had it that way. My family and I didn’t like it. The chicken was just okay. The macaroni and cheese was very different. It was dry, not enough cheese. The cheese was in dry clumbs. It wasn’t good. They are very welcoming. The staff is nice. The establishment is clean. The food just wasn’t good. It’s a little pricey for what you get but everything is high now. I think they need to do a test taste before they sale it.
