The brisket was lean and had a wonderful peppery crust. There was a variety of sauces. The cornbread pancake affectionately called a hoecake was surprisingly awesome and not at all what I expected.

The place smelled like they used wood to smoke their meats, but the taste says otherwise. My review s the pulled pork.
Pros:I liked to the bluegrass music and the place is pretty nice. Not bad sweet tea,
Cons: The pork has a lot of fat in it, something that is supposed to be slow cooked over wood, is not supposed to have globs of fat. The pork did not even have a strong smokey taste to it. Also, they were VERY skimpy on the meat. BBQ sauce was OK.

Would not go again.

My husband and I visited this location for the first time. Place was busy; nuiance was great. Nice decorations, interesting, too.

My hamburger came out not tasting real well; looked at it and discovered it was actually raw for the most part. I returned it to the wait station; it was promptly taken and replaced with a burger to-go, but I lost all my french fries.

My husband ordered the brisket plate. He was disappointed that the BBQ is actually vinegar-based. Being from the deep south, and with the sauce described as “Southern Belle” sauce, he incorrectly assumed the BBQ must then be tomato-based. Wrong.

Maybe next time it will be better.

The food is pretty good for BBQ, While it isn’t the best BBQ I have had (I have had some great BBQ), it is the best you will find around here. To clarify on the Service, it is decent when you are there, but we have called in a few orders from work and they have yet to get one right. Ask for coleslaw, don’t get any…ask for no coleslaw, get a pile of it. My suggestion is to be repetitive if you call in an order…maybe tell them how you want your food 5-10 times 🙂

Sad to see that this place has been closed. It is one of my fondest memories while visiting Nashville with a few friends. We had an large amount of food for a decent price, and the brisket, smoked chicken and ribs were TO DIE FOR. Particularly, the brisket.

Service did a great job attending to our needs, and was well versed on the menus when asked to make recommendations.

After living in the south for a couple of years. I have come to know a little about barbecue . This is some really amazing barbecue. The brisket was tender enough to cut with a fork and had lots of flavor. The sides are amazing no matter what you get. I highly suggest going and trying it out.

I’m from Texas and we have some of the best Bar b que. The Brisket was tender and the perfect amount of smoke. My wife had the ribs and said they were almost as good as mine. Enjoyed it and will definitely be back.

One of the best BBQ places I’ve eaten at, and defiently the best in Morgantown. All of the sauces tend to have a little heat to them so that may put some people off but that is part of the alure for myself. The ribs are outstanding and the redneck tacos (BBQ and slaw wraped in a cornbread pancake) are good as well.

My wife and I just moved to Morgantown from South Carolina. Needless to say we were looking for a joint that could produce high-quality BBQ and sweet tea that could rival the deep south, and Martin’s delivered. I went out looking for a “to-go” BBQ joint on a Tuesday evening. Here’s my experience:

Ambiance (4/5): The restaurant is themed nicely, with a rustic/country feel. License plates, chalk board menu, etc. It could have been slightly more clean (with crumbs on the floor and a few tables un-bussed). But I wasn’t around long-enough to get a sense of how fast they would clean their tables.

Service (5/5): The waitress/counter clerk was very friendly. I ordered a BBQ pulled-pork sandwich asked her what her what the best sides were. Her favorites were Mac and Cheese, hushpuppies, and broccoli salad. I decided on hushpuppies and baked beans. She said they were out of baked beans for the day (a little disappointed, I ordered mac and cheese instead). The food came out quickly (about 8 minutes) and hot (even after a 15 minute drive home). Also, to my surprise, they included THREE sides instead of just two, putting in the baked beans (assuming they were just made). Very impressed with their “above and beyond” approach.

Food: (4.5/5): The BBQ was perfect texture, tender, but not mushy. The taste was phenomenal, with a vinegar based BBQ sauce, slightly zesty with a hint of spice. The sauce was not overbearing, and the natural smoke flavor was brought out of the meat. The mac and cheese was incredible (although my wife said it was a bit salty for her liking). The hushpuppies were home-made and had a great natural flavor of onion/celery. The baked beans were amazing, with a bit of zest/spice and a real pieces of pork. My only complaint was that the sweet tea was a little too sweet for me (but I like my sweet tea cut in half usually, so it may be fine for other sweat tea lovers). The flavor of the tea was good, not old or spoiled.

All-in-all I would give my experience a 5/5. Very impressed with service, atmosphere, speed and quality.

Food is usually great, but make sure you eat inside. They may as well not even have a drive through with as long as it takes for them to acknowledge your existence, if they ever do. Broccoli slaw is fantastic and I pick it up regularly for family get togethers.
