We went here for dinner and had an amazing time!! The ambiance is nice and the staff is very sweet. They offer a tasting menu if that’s up your alley but we went with recommendations off the menu from our waiter and it did not disappoint! Hands down the absolutely best thing was the mushroom dumplings!! They are literally one of the best things I have ever eaten! When I tell you I would eat here everyday just for those I wholeheartedly mean that! We had an amazing time and everything we had was great! I cannot wait to come back and bring friends!

I attended Marrow West Village for a company dinner party and our large party was seated in the basement. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant, and all of our servers were really nice and knowledgeable about the menu! The staff even customized a drink for me which I found nice because I wanted a fruity cocktail. I wish the parking was better but it’s in downtown Detroit so there’s that. Now, onto the food.

If I am being honest, I wasn’t a huge fan of the food. We had a custom menu (pictured below) and my favorite was the Charcuterie plate. The bone marrow was also good until I got to the bottom which I was greeted by with pure slime/gelatin. For my main entree, it was good but the beef was very chewy.

The worst thing which was way too salty was the pasta aka the gruyere and ricotta gnudi. As well as the maitake mushroom dumplings which were really sweet. Overall, I more than likely would be hesitant to come back but I am grateful I got to experience a new restaurant.

I had the Smash Burger and it was SO good. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared, and you can tell they put care into the food. The burger was flavorful, cooked perfectly, and honestly one of the better burgers I’ve had lately. Definitely worth trying .

Lovely place! The atmosphere was intimate and cozy, the service was attentive and informative, and the food was phenomenal. We tried the tasting menu, which offered a wide variety of tastes and left us very full. The drinks were delicious as well, I was impressed by the range of NA options. Hopefully next visit I can get some meat to take home on the butcher’s side.

Had a wonderful Valentines dinner here. The food, service, and ambiance were all excellent. We enjoyed their 5 course valentines menu, with accompanied wine pairing. Additionally, they provided a pork-free version of their valentines menu with substitutions to any courses that used pork.

I will return!

We had the chef’s tasting menu and found the dishes spotty, mostly in terms of composition. We love scallops with any kind of bacon or pancetta, but this scallop dish was overwhelmed by the other flavors, leaving the scallop behind. The corn served as part of the dish was the best thing on the plate. We had a similar response to another dish that felt equally poorly composed. We got the beverage pairing with our tasting menu which we also found oddly coordinated with the food. Normally we love a beverage pairing and always sip our drink first, then try it again after taking a bite of the accompanying dish to see how one enhanced the other. Time after time we found the pairing to be poor choice with the dish. Strange. I know this place has been nominated multiple times for James Beard awards, but it feels like it’s either trying too hard or just a bit lost. Hard to tell from one visit.

I am not a food critic. But I have the time while flying back home to reflect on dinner last night. The experience was so amazing that I had to leave a glowing review. I seldom take the time to do so.

Marrow is top shelf dining experience. My friends and I went all in with the food paring ($90) and drink paring ($45) options. Pricey but well worth it. 3 small but flavorful starters, a wonderful pear salad, a chorizo and gnocchi dish head of the main event… a 7oz flat iron steak cooked to perfection over a bed of lightly smoked and tender pinto beans finishing with a single scoop of chestnut ice cream. But that was just the food. The drinks were carefully paired with each course. 5 in total. Each one balanced bitterness, sweetness, and acid with each course. My mouth was alive as if it had been raised from the dead. It was so amazing that I forgot to mentally note each drink so I could describe them in the future.

This place is a diamond in the rough. I only wish I had met the chef and the team behind the incredible experience.

I am from Los Angeles and have plenty of great places to dine. My visit to Detroit to watch my friends compete in an indoor track bike race was punctuated be this celebratory dinner.

If you love incredible food with thoughtfully pared drinks, I cannot recommend Marrow enough.

The vibe is festive (we were seated in the “outdoor room) where it was cozy and warm. Margie was our waitstaff and did not disappoint in recommendations for cocktails and dinner. We chose the tasting menu and all had a favorite course. Delicious!

I had a good time at the Marrow.

I reserved a spot for my girlfriend and I celebrating her birthday. No wait was necessary, host was nice and friendly. They served a birthday prosecco which made us super happy. Our waitress was friendly but not as attentive as other restaurants with a tasting menu of $90/person, still experience was great.

We both chose the tasting menu with a choice of cocktails. Food was delicious, very unique and beautifully plated. One person was delivering our food to the table but wasn’t really explaining what the plate is and the food server (different from our waitress) was hard to find when we had questions. They gave us a small ice cream though with a candle to celebrate, not too excessive which we liked.
In my personal opinion the cocktails were not my style (reason for the 1 star loss). They had their unique twist to the common drinks and might be my taste but I didn’t like it. It also came quite late (midway through the course, photos are in serving order)

Not sure if we would come back since the $ to food/drink value is questionable.

We had a great first experience here! PJ was an amazing server and walked us through the chefs menu. Our pairings were great. Loved the Heritage Pork dish best (though the snacks were really great). All of the staff here were very welcoming and helped make the experience very enjoyable!
