Social Profile:

The year is 1783. Colonial men, exhausted and elated with victory at the end of the Revolutionary War, set down their muskets and head to the local tavern in the heart of Marlborough, CT, to celebrate over a tankard of ale. Independence, freedom, and democracy are the words of the day. Today, The Marlborough Tavern continues to offer that “early American tavern” feel to modern-day diners and drinkers. We offer genial, old-fashioned service, an atmosphere of informality and friendliness where friends gather as in days of old. Pair classic American food created with fresh, local ingredients with craft beers, cocktails, and selected wines. In the spirit of democracy, everyone is welcome here!

My husband and I love visiting the tavern! We bring visiting family and friends here often. The historical elements of the tavern are truly so cool to see, but the food and drinks keep us coming back again and again! The staff are friendly and helpful, and they have great specials and cocktails. Recently we went for Easter brunch, and WOW

Came here for the bourbon history dinner. What a great place!!! Spacious, not too loud, lovely atmosphere, and amazing staff. The food is WONDERFUL. I will definitely be back, and suggest you make your way here if you have never been! Drinks are priced very well and very tasty.

Our family of 4 was driving home from Groton and saw this place and decided to try it on a whim. I’m so glad we did! Our server was lovely and very attentive. They had a really nice variety of daily specials. My only complaint was that the kid’s menu had very few selections. However, my youngest chose the kid’s burger and it was cooked perfectly and was so big, he couldn’t finish it. My oldest and I decided to share mac and cheese, which was delicious and more than enough for both of us. My husband had pulled pork tacos which were also large and delicious. The building is beautiful inside with tons of charm and a fireplace. Thank you for being the highlight on our drive home on a cold day!

Worst bartender ever. Upon arrival there were very few people in the bar and I had to go out of my way to get the bartender’s attention. He seemed irritated that he had to serve us. We wanted to order food and opted to move into the dining room to get served. Food seems to have gone down hill since the last time we ate there. Oh yeah. Covid is over. Print some menus. This scan it on your phone is a bunch of BS.

I ordered the Fish & Chips and the food was amazing. Our waitress, Kim, was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was warm and being seated next to the fireplace made it that much more inviting. Loved every minute there.

3 strikes! Adios. For the third time we tried Marlborough Tavern and for the third time we sat at the bar like we were invisible. 7:30pm 3/24. The bar staff walked by us no less than 5 times… all we needed was a “hey guys be right with you!” As we got up to leave even the two gents next to us cried out “someone please get these people some service?”

Came in for Bourbon history night by Old Forester. We had a couple drinks at the bar, great beer selection and their happy hour cocktails were fun. The bartenders and servers were all very nice and accommodating. The Bourbon history dinner was to die for. The food was absolutely amazing. The Bourbon and the history provided were wonderful. They really took care of us, the dinner had a personal chef that incorporated the bourbons into the 4 course meal. Also, we left with a burger for my brother in law and he said it was great. Highly recommend.

Always enjoy meals at MT. Wings are amazing and just enough for 2 people to share. The burgers are the best around! Always hot and juicy when delivered to the table. They are so big, I have to cut it in half just to take a bite! Drinks are always wonderful! Highly recommend a visit or 2 or 3
