I got a latte and a hot chocolate. The portions were very small, and the price was the same as a large coffee you might get outside. There were no placemats, so they poured it from glasses and brought it to the table. I didn’t like the price-service ratio. This service, this size of coffee, wasn’t worth the price. The coffee and chocolate were standard, neither bad nor very good.

We decided to go to John Lewis for something to eat. The touch machines are awful. We prefer personal service. Spoke to lovely member of staff who said that they prefer the old method. Anyone listening Marks and Spencer. Most of the people in the cafe were of a certain age and I suspect they would prefer the old cafe.

Rude staff – went to the m&s cafe for some lunch as me and my partner entered we could see it was busy I noticed it was self service touch screens, as I could see it was busy I thought to check if there were any tables free my partner stood in the queue, I came back to him as I saw there were a few tables free I then approached the pay screen that was available to use as I started to use it a staff member appeared abruptly and said quite rudely and loudly there’s a Queue and we have skipped it i apologised to the lady staff member and went to the back even though we had already waited but to avoid conflict we waited again, we felt very awkward as people were now looking as if we pushed in but we were not she miss judged what happened, I said to the lady next in line that machine was free if she would like to use it the staff member said that it wasn’t to be used as she was controlling the Queue’s to use the touch screens one by one as there was a back up on hot and cold drinks which is understandable but she didn’t need to speak to me and my partner in the manner she did, as we finally got back to the front of the line we decided to leave as we both felt embarrassed by the ordeal we left feeling deflated and upset about the whole situation.
Maybe the needs to be more clear signage on where to stand or how to order.
Definitely some staff training as the abrupt manner of saying get to the back of the line wasn’t on.

Went to M&S clothing store today on the hunt for some jumpers for winter. Found exactly what I wanted. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful Also couldn’t resist a walk around the Foodhall, didn’t need anything but ended up spending anyway as they have some amazing items you just can’t get anywhere else.

New M&S cafe. Handforth Dean. Well it looks nice. You have to order from a screen and pay then wait for your order to be brought to your table. Works ok but heard people complaining about the wait. We were lucky. Staff on the shop floor ridiculous. Clearing a table one pot at a time. No wiping then when it’s done all of the crumbs swept onto the chairs. The young workers have no idea what they’re doing. Walking up and down carrying one item when the tables are stacked and need clearing. Asking them a question defeats them. ♀️ Not sure I’ll bother again. Shame.

All the staff are friendly and professional. The food isn’t great – I had a Mexican wrap (egg is a bit foamy) and chips (soft, limp, potato-y) and a hot chocolate (nice quality but small and feels much too expensive at £4). 2 stars based purely on the food which is 95% of the reason for going for take out. Final thought: where do we stand for takeout? Felt like I was in the way.

Why, just why go to fast good type ordering? Slow,difficult,you cannot see what your getting,dont take cash, cannot order your coffee how you prefer it,eg half a shot, my sandwich was excellent but my crisps were to follow with the drinks! I feel sorry for your staff who have to face the disgruntled public, they can only work with the poor tools given to them,change for chage sake,il bet its consultant lead

Half the self service till points weren’t working which you didn’t know until actually going up to them. There was no one else waiting so we stood behind someone using a till that was working, after several minutes a member of staff comes and tells us to join the back of a queue of a few people that had come while we’d been waiting! She wouldn’t listen that we were there first. A customer saw all this and also said we’d been there first she still didn’t listen. Absolutely awful customer service!
