Mark T’s is a drive through only little rib spot. Very old school so be patient waiting for your food—it’s not as quick as a traditional drive through window.

They serve chicken, pork ribs, beef ribs, rib tips and pulled pork. I tried the pork ribs, rib tips and pulled pork. All three meats were very tasty and cooked very well. However, I actually liked the side dishes better. The potato salad and coleslaw were sweet and refreshing, but I wish the side portioned were larger.

I’ve based my overall rating on a number of factors. First, the food. I give Mark 5* for his pulled beef bbq sandwich. The bun is unusual in a good way. It’s not populated with sesame seeds or just plain like so many other places, but is lightly peppered with what appears to be cornmeal. Fantastic choice for a bbq shack. The meat itself is tender without losing all composition and moist without swimming in sauce. It’s as close to perfection as can be had. The flavor of the sauce is not amazing in its uniqueness but is low key enough to be appealing to many folks. A little spicy, significantly sweet and just a light sting if vinegary goodness. Again, Mark hit the nail on the head.

The potato salad is palatable, but tastes like your standard grocery chain deli concoction. Not good, but also not bad. It does come in a small styrofoam container and you don’t get much. I’m willing to admit I’m wrong, but I’d bet the stuff comes from GFS or Costco in a plastic vat. The small styro cup of slaw…ok, now THAT is something else. In contrast to the potato salad, I’d almost bet money Mrs. Mark made that stuff. Sweet, and cut into such a fine grate that it almost dissolves in your mouth. It’s just a tad too sweet for me, but omg is it still good. I’d consider it for dessert.

The baked beans are much closer in quality to the slaw. They are tender with nary a mushy bean in the small cup. They are smoky enough that I can guarantee they or their ingredients have spent some time in the smoker outside. Sweet but not overpoweringly so. Really good beans, though baked is a misnomer. I’d say they may have started life as canned, but they’ve run down a much nicer road since then.

The sweetheart that took my order was as nice as I’ve found anywhere and nicer than many places. I glanced at the big drive up menu, noticed the lack of a comms system for ordering, and found the handmade sign at the bottom that directs you to pull up to the window to order. I pulled up, noting a smaller menu right before you get to the window. When you pull up to order however, you are unable to see either of those menus. I asked her if she had a smaller menu I could look at. I got a somewhat deer-in-headlights look and I asked her if she wanted me to back up. There was nobody behind me, so no worries.

She said it was no problem and held up a medium sized plastic menu for me to look at. While I was asking about some items, a bald fellow (I do not know if this was ‘Mark’) poked his head over in front of her and asked “Didn’t you see the menu??” Then asked her “He didn’t see the menu?!?!” His tone and demeanor was what I usually classify as @hole. I offered again to back up and she said no it’s ok. I completed ordering and she came after about 10 minutes and offered me an extra side and a drink for my wait. I was going to explain that it was no problem and thinking that good bbq takes time and was worth waiting for. I was correct.

The place is a Shack. No other way to put it. The health department rating is good and there looks like there could be some minor outdoor seating. There are 4 or 5 vertical barrel type grills going and it’s not as difficult to get into and out of as it looks. The prices are what I would consider a little high BEFORE tasting the food. I’d have given 5* if not for the guy’s attitude.

Fantastic BBQ! I was traveling through the area and saw the smokers lined up outside Mark’s and made a quick stop. The Pork Ribs were everything I had hoped for —- super smoky, sweet southern sauce, and falling off the bone. I highly recommend!

The lady was super nice to me.
I ordered a pulled pork plate.
It includes two sides.
She charged me $10
The pulled pork had a weird taste… It was huge chunks of meat, & not pulled apart at all… Not even sure if it had sauce or seasoning on it… The two sides were in the tiniest little white cups with lids… The potato salad tasted ok.. But could use more mustard and seasoning but was ok and the pork n beans I couldn’t eat at all… Not sure what that sauce was but I didn’t like it
So sad…I don’t have much money for stuff like that so it totally felt like I got taken… The meat tasted like it was expired… And smelled weird
Why sell such bad stuff… It sucks for me

Smelled good but rib quality questionable. Tasted like a mix between low quality steak and hamburger. Beans were good but potato salad was grainy; maybe had ice crystals in it? Woman taking order was pleasant enough.

I had the beef rib dinner with potato salad and baked beans. These ribs were taken from the grill and then into my box to eat. The BBQ sauce was most certainly homemade, it had bits of disintegrated onion and pepper from simmering on a stove for hours. The meat was flavorful and marbled and smoked as good as they smell. The BBQ was so fantastic that when I had finished my beef ribs, I dipped my bun into the pool of sause.

After viciously eating the beef ribs as if I have not eaten in days, I moved on to my sides. This potato salad was also homemade and phenomenal, the only thing I would have done differently was bigger egg slices.

Now this is the most important part, I have never liked baked beans in my entire life, not once have I tasted a baked beans and appreciated it, my mother could confirm. I tasted these baked beans and my eyes lit up, as if I was hearing the truth to some lie told to me years ago, I ate the entire cup.

If you want true southern BQQ, visit Marks Slab House.

BBQ sauce is interesting – almost tastes like it has cinnamon in it (pretty good overall). I got the chopped pork sandwich. The meat was tender, although I like more smoke flavor and bark in pork. Prices are fair and service was quick (walk up window or drive through).

Nice folks, but our pulled pork sandwiches were actually chopped, and had a fair amount of fat. The chunks were big and hard to chew on the bun so we ended up just eating the pieces like finger food. The baked beans are delicious, just super sweet, but they have a good amount of bacon in there. We got there about 15min to close, and they said they had sold almost all of the pork, so maybe that made a difference??? There is no choice in BBQ sauce, btw, and no extras like onions or pickles. Our sandwiches were $6.50 each, and the bbq beans were almost $4 for about 2/3 cup. Gotta say, the drive thru waitress was super sweet.
