If you love true diners and hole-in-the-wall gems, Mark’s Place is a must. Yes, it’s inside a gas station; and no, that should not scare you off. The food is made from scratch and it’s Southern cooking done right.

The cheddar cheese biscuits alone are worth the trip. The cheddar is baked straight into the dough-not sprinkled on top, not hiding, worked right into every bite. Add country ham and cheese or sausage, egg, and cheese and you’ve got one seriously satisfying breakfast.

They’re also known for their fried pork chops and fried chicken, and they don’t disappoint. The pork chops are huge, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The chicken has that golden, crunchy crust you hope for but rarely get.

I can’t fully speak to the “welcoming service” part. The woman working the front seemed a little grumpy at first. But after a few extra smiles and a little kindness, she definitely warmed up. We all have off days, so maybe I just caught her at a tough moment.

Friendly service. Low expectations for a gas station restaurant, but it was not as greasy as it looked and tasted fine. No prices posted, so not sure about what we were charged. Did she say whatever she wanted? $11 seems like price gouging for a meal at a gas station.

I work nearby on the weekends, so I liked coming here on Saturday for lunch. But recently they were out of my favorite meal for two weeks. Not their fault, but on the second weekend I asked, one of the employees mocked me and laughed at me as I was leaving. I don’t think I’ll go back there again for a while, if ever.

It’s just a good, classic diner but more homey. You can’t go wrong with their burgers or chicken tenders but they also have fresh fish and fried chicken. Everything is homemade and the prices are very reasonable

I’ve been eating breakfast here for a year. The same lady has always made my biscuits for me and the same lady has always cooked my sandwiches for me. That’s when the service was a 5/5. But recently they hired a new lady, she’s so rude to me everytime I go. First time I met her was one morning I wanted toast and eggs and she was the only one there so she made it for me. I bit into the sand which and the eggs were raw. They were slimy white. When I ask for the cook to make something she says no. She won’t even bother to ask her. Whenever she’s there I don’t go. Besides that one lady ruining this business the rest is great.

During my travels I have found this place. The breakfast is disgusting. Eggs are dryer than Melinda’s sense of humor. She must get her cooking experience from the owner who is just as bland as she is. I’ll stay away for a while

Had high hopes for this place waiting for it to open. I live close by and was hoping for Mikes to be a go-to because of it’s convenience to home. I was sorely disappointed in the breakfast buffet. The taste of the food was mediocre at best. Very bland. The actual buffet that the food is served on, only has one side to get to the food. You have to reach over other food to get to the rear of it. Also, the tongs that are in each container of food used to pick up the food, falls down into the actual food, so you have to reach in the food to pick up said tongs. With Flu season, that’s not very sanitary. I did go there for dinner also a few days later. I’ll have to say that the spaghetti is very tasty and that the waitress was very nice. I hope they will make some changes in the quality of their breakfast as well as the buffet setup in the future.

2nd time they invited someone to break in line. Customer this time was smart and kind enough to tell them to wait on the person ahead of him.

Best place for miles, cheap too. Less than a combo at a fast food place.
