From start to finish, this was an outstanding dining experience. The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared with attention to detail. Every dish exceeded expectations. The service was equally impressive — attentive, professional, and delivered with genuine warmth. Customer care here is top-notch; the staff made us feel welcomed and valued throughout our visit. It’s rare to find a place that combines excellent food with such high-quality service. I will gladly return and highly recommend this restaurant to others.

Food was bland whoever prepared these plates had no flavor. And was overpriced compared to other places. The only thing I say had a good flavor was the bichi.

We are absolutely in love with Los Arbolits’ pizza. Its dough it’s freshly baked and it’s become one of our favorite quick dinner spots. Manuel our waitress was really good at offering additional options like deserts and we had a really good time with good music and great environment

Very good taste and flavor on all of the dishes I had. I definitely recommend having this coconut-pecan cake with ice cream as a dessert. It was very good! I asked for a tostada mamalona and it was also delicious!

GRINGOS – BEWARE THE PESO/DOLLAR SWITCH WHEN PAYING THE CHECK

They pull this scam when paying your bill to the server. It adds 11% to the total and they don’t even ask.

The food was expensive – 400 MXP per person. It was alright, but probably not good enough to return. The service was good, the shrimp was OK, and the veggies were cold. The problem came when paying the check.

The server totaled the bill in pesos, and I added the tip. She showed me the total in pesos, and dollars. At the time, I didn’t understand why she bothered with the exchange rate.

At no time did I ask to pay in dollars. Actually, at no time did I speak to her in English. After I left I thought, “Why did she bother to show me the bill in dollars?” So I looked at the reciept.

Sure enough, they converted the total from pesos to USD, and charged an 11% currency exchange surcharge for their effort.

Establishments sometimes ask if we wish to pay in pesos or dollars. We always pay in the local currency to avoid bogus exchange rates. In this resturant they didn’t even ask. She just handed me the screen to sign. When you sign a screen instead of a proper reciept, you really don’t know what you are signing.

By the time I realized I had been duped, they were closed. I stopped by the resturant the next day to request the manager refund the card, and charge me properly in pesos.

At first they claimed it was my bank that did the switch. But when I pointed out it was their system’s reciept, not from my bank they relented. Escalating the issue to the manager’s boss (Martin), he refused, explaining that they always charge customers who look American in dollars, and add an 11% surcharge to the bill.

I was dumbfounded he admitted it so blatantly. I had assumed it was an error on the part of the server.

I asked the person who was relaying the call to Martin, “How would you feel if you were visiting friends in the USA, and the resturant switched your bill from dollars to pesos, and charged you 11% extra just because you look like you are from Mexico?

He didn’t have an answer.

Update to my review:
About a week after posting this review, the resturant management reached out to me, asking, “What happened”? (You can see their response bellow) I replied as follows:

“It happened exactly as I stated in my review. The switch from pesos to dollars was very slick, along with the added exchange fee.

In the +2 years we lived in Mexico, this was the first time this had happened to us. Given that Los Arbolitos is a high-end resturant in San Carlos, I cerantly didn’t expect it there.

The response the next day stunned me. I held off posting my review until I had given the Management a chance to correct the overcharge.

They refused.”

I’ve had no contacts since.

Good view of the water, kind service. Few places to park directly out front, harder to find parking when busy. The tostadas are good. The Chicharrón de calamar was tasty.

Cielo, mar y tierra Molcajete was delicious. The chicken and beef along with the shrimp were very tender. The sauce had a little spice. I wish there was more.

The Boston Shrimp dinner – what can you say about Jamon wrapped shrimp with cheese on top. The rice was bland. Nice portion of 7 shrimp.

Service was okay. I hate having to flag someone down for another drink.

Of course, the view is the view!!!
