Fresh, flavorful, and exactly what I was craving!

Stopped by Mariscos Guillen in Hawthorne and it did not disappoint. The fish tacos were crispy and packed with flavor — topped with fresh pico de gallo, crunchy lettuce, and perfectly seasoned. The carnitas tacos were tender and juicy, full of authentic flavor. The pickled veggies on the side added the perfect touch.

Everything tasted fresh, the salsa had just the right kick, and service was friendly and fast. A hidden gem for real Mexican seafood and street-style tacos.

Small, perfect taco spot for fresh, delicious grilled fish tacos. You can tell they attract regulars for a good reason! The hot sauce was amazing, then it completely cleared my sinuses and I had to drink 2 glasses of ice water to soothe my poor tongue. Totally worth it!!

Me and my family were looking for a good place to have some fish tacos and this place had some reviews on the good side we went with it, huge mistake. To start we order fish tacos thinking it was your typical beer battered fish but instead they were breaded fried, tasteless no matter how much salsa you put on it. My son is not a picky eater and he would not eat his chicken taco, and with all the reason it was extremely salty. My daughter ordered a carne asada quesadilla and same the meat was just tasteless. The rice is clearly not freshly made and the beans are canned beans. The service was good not going to lie and the atmosphere was also good, just the food? No thanks.

I’ve had Mariscos Guillen on my list for a while so had to stop by when I was in the area. The food was delicious, the staff were so kind and welcoming, especially Carmen who helped us decide what dishes to order and was so friendly to chat to. She took such great care of us and always checking in to see if we needed anything. We had the mixed seafood ceviche, aguachiles, and some fish tacos. Everything was so tasty. Will definitely be back next time I’m in Hawthorne.

MÉXICO
Excerpt from Eat the World Los Angeles:
On flights in and out of LAX, avoided when possible but sometimes inevitable, the silver lining is always food. Before most travel came to a halt, a recent return afforded the opportunity to seek out more LAX-adjacent mariscos, this time in Hawthorne.

Mariscos Guillen, named for the original owner, was a fun lunch find and much more than the simple counter-service joint it presents itself as. The menu of offerings is actually quite vast, but the stack of tostadas near the register for ordering might clue you into what most people are eating here.

Pay in cash, take your seat, and get settled. As simple dishes like the ceviche tostada ($2.50) are enjoyed, someone will come over and make sure everything is good. The place has all the makings of a joint you want to become a regular in.

Mariscos Guillen is my go-to spot every time I’m back in LA! I’ve been coming here since before I moved away a few years ago, and without fail, I always have to stop by for their filete a la diabla—it’s that good. This place is a true hidden gem, a cozy hole-in-the-wall with an authentic mariscos vibe that hits you the moment you walk in. You can smell the fresh seafood being cooked in the back—it’s the real deal.

They’ve got a solid menu with great variety, whether you’re craving shrimp tacos, ceviche, or something spicier like I do. There are plenty of tables if you want to dine in, but it’s also super convenient to call ahead and order for pick-up.

What really sets this place apart is the owner—he’s always friendly, helpful, and genuinely cares about getting your order just right. The service feels personal, which is rare these days. Other reviewers agree that the food is always fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the Hawthorne area and love authentic Mexican seafood!
