Avoid this place at all costs. We have many delicious food options nearby with integrity and honest staff. The service is awful. Our drinks were never refilled nor were we offered refills. The prices on their website menu were different the those on the in person menu and what they charged on the receipt does not match either! I posted pictures of everything. I asked our server why the price differences and she defensively said “I’m not going to argue with you, I’m calling my manager” The woman that came up to us has absolutely zero customer service skills and immediately started coming up with excuses on why the price differences and why she charged extra for avocado which was never stated or listed anywhere. I asked them for a menu to review prices. The “manager” said she would not be fixing anything as we already ate our food. We paid but will be contacting our bank to dispute as they are overcharging the listed menu prices which is against the law. It was close to $10 in extra “fees” and unknown charges for a 2 person dinner. Needless to say we will not be going back. The food needed flavor and salt which we adjusted more to our taste but again if you are looking for decent mariscos that aren’t overpriced and come with good customer service I would recommend Cayomango or Baja Joes both in Mesa.

Delicious and flavorful octopus platter, as well as a crispy & juicy fried fish. The house salsa was amazing, I couldn’t stop eating it. It was super busy at 230pm on a Saturday & the music is extremely loud. So much so that you definitely cannot carry a conversation with anyone. Overall, we really enjoyed the food and will try to request to sit further away from the speakers. The staff was incredibly kind and patient with us despite a language barrier. The hostess stepped in to translate what I could not understand with my minimal Spanish language understanding. I cannot wait to come back and get the whole ocotpus!

A highly fun, exciting atmosphere to eat out in with your friends and family! Tuba, guitar and singing in the background while you sit back and enjoy the fresh seafood. Service and food is amazing here. Highly recommend

The live music was excellent but the food…no bueno… sorry Mariscos “El Viejon” your fish was not cooked properly and the sushi was not my favorite… Toritos were ok but I’ve had better. I think this place has a lot of potential but they need a new cook. There were plenty of servers but it was hard to get their attention. Fix these things and I would probably be back.

The camarones cucaracha are a must! The spicy sauce on the side is out of this world. We also had the tostada de camarón (ceviche) and the shrimp coctel which we’re both very tasty and fresh.
The servers are great and super attentive. We went on a weekend and they had lovely live music.

We were there for the seafood, and it was great, well flavored, and there was no need for even any salt. Service was great and polite but not a 5 ⭐️. They had live music banda. We will came back.

I frequently visit to eat my favorites; the cucarachas (which has a delicious spicy kick to it), shrimp wrapped in bacon (Campin shrimp) and the shrimp ceviche. Always enjoy spending an extra time when there is a musical group playing.

I have been here twice and have found that El Viejon has very good quality authentic Mariscos at a very fair price. This is one of the better Mexican seafood restaurants I have found near the Gilbert and Chandler area. Drinks and service are good too. Both visits have had live music which is nice, but can be a little loud and hard to hear conversation (didn’t bother us, but may for some). All in all this is a great little place and I will continue returning.
