Surprise Find in Pismo Beach – El Picosito’s New Location!
I had a pleasant surprise this morning during one of my walks in Pismo Beach. While waiting in line at Splash Café, I spotted an employee from El Picosito—and it instantly reminded me that they were opening a new location nearby. Sure enough, it’s right next door to Splash, and I couldn’t resist the temptation. I jumped out of line and walked straight in.
I ordered the shrimp gobernador tacos—and wow, they did not disappoint. These tacos come loaded with juicy shrimp, melted cheese, sautéed veggies, and tangy pickled red onions, all with a subtle kick of chipotle sauce. Every bite was packed with flavor. I ended up eating four of them, and honestly, they were absolutely worth it.
If you’re ever in the Pismo Beach area and craving authentic Mexican cuisine, do yourself a favor and check out El Picosito. The food is top-notch, the flavors are bold and balanced, and it’s a fantastic addition to the local food scene.

We ordered tacos to go to sit outside near the pier with our dog. My husband and I we each ordered 3 tacos. He had all Al Pastor. I had one Al Pastor which was excellent, 1 spicy shrimp taco which was also great and 1 regular shrimp taco with melted cheese which was ok but not my favorite. Everything tasted very fresh and reasonable price, about $3.50 to $4 each taco. I would definitely eat here again.

I used to come to the excellent restaurant at the same location (El Mirador) for 25 years. I was devastated when they closed. But was really impressed with the new place. Renovated and super clean. The fish taco was awesome. Super fresh. Chilaquiles Rojos off the charts good. This is their second place (first in Santa Maria). Highly recommend even if I will always miss El Mirador.

Five stars, no debate. Mariscos Picositos is straight fire. Fresh seafood, bold flavors, perfect spice, and portions that actually respect your money. Every bite hits — nothing bland, nothing half-assed. The owners and staff are solid, fast, and clearly care about what they’re putting out. This is the kind of place you come to once and then keep thinking about. If you don’t like Mariscos Picositos, you probably think salt is “too spicy.” That’s on you. This spot is legit.

Such a great little authentic Mexican food joint !! The staff is super friendly and the food is on point. I had a fish ceviche tostada, chicken & pastor tacos. Portions are very fair and the food is delicious ! I highly recommend this new family owned restaurant.

A small restaurant on the main street in Pismp by the pier. They have a large choice of meat and fish items. I ordered at the counter to go. The young lady was very helpful. I had a marlin taco and a shrimp taco that were both delicious.

Everything was absolutely spectacular and so fresh! My favorite was the Gobernado Burrito—packed with shrimp, melted cheese, chipotle sauce, and onions. I could seriously eat 10 more!
I also tried the oysters and shrimp tacos—both were bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection.
Service was impressively fast, and the cashier was incredibly kind and welcoming.
Definitely coming back soon!
