A Fully vegetarian place with vegan options too. We went in as a family of four vegetarians from out of town that tried two kinds of sandwiches , the fresh spring roll and the vermicelli bowl . We each enjoyed our food. Good portion size and reasonably priced.

We had to wait nearly 30 mins for the food even though the place was quiet . But the food was fresh and tasted good.

This cafe is a cool all black room with a pop of bright color in art & neon light that give it nightclub-vibe …they had a cool playlist going too. Staff seemed cheerful & friendly :).

This place had a set up (in the far end ) for a live performance ? They had a fairly big collection of vinyl records too….

went here twice recently & enjoyed it both times! the first time i went i ordered a cubano but on weekdays they don’t make them until after 4pm, so i ordered a banh mi(still yummy)& a cà phê sua dá(one of the best you can get in santa cruz imo). the second time i went i forgot about this & ordered a cubano again & a bella bon bon. this time the owner was working. i said i’d come back when they start making food since it was almost 4, & when i came back to order i was told that it was on the house. it took a while for the sandwich to come out but it was absolutely worth it for a hot & surprisingly vegetarian meal. definitely will be back again & again. thank you!!!

We tried this spot for the first time this morning and it did not disappoint! The owner, Tram was so warm and welcoming — you can tell she pours love into the space.

We had the Bella Bon Bon (tasty and not too sweet) and the Sua Da — strong Vietnamese coffee that gave us the boost we needed! We also tried two pastries: the beef and chorizo one was incredibly flaky with a slightly sweet, seasoned to perfection— 10/10. And the pâte à choux was packed with flavor and so satisfying.

The space is open and beautifully decorated with cool art, Vietnamese hip-hop playing, and a big cozy couch tucked in the back. Tram chatted with us for a while — super sweet and genuine person and we wish this small business many blessings.

Definitely planning to come back soon!

My partner and I were looking forward to trying this place especially because of the plant based options we were really disappointed with there being no food expect for pastries. We did order coffee I ordered a bella bon bon which i ordered hot but was served room temperature for some reason and my partner had a cafe sua da which tasted unpleasant. I also had a guava pastry it was good but totally not worth everything being 17 dollars especially with the service we received. Barsita looked like they didn’t know what they were doing.

Went here this morning for brunch and coffee. Food and coffee were very good (cubano was my favorite!). The service was a bit slow but it was quite busy and the young woman behind the counter was working all by herself. She was working hard to take orders, make drinks, and all the food! I wanted to give her a shout out for her hard work today! Overall, I would still go here again.

This is my favorite place for REAL coffee and a bite to eat. I like to order a Bella Bon Bon to sip and a pastry to snack on. They also have larger bites avaliable. There Bah Mi is so incredible! I love to share that because it’s a big sandwich!

As a Vietnamese person, I felt that the staff was very condescending. When I asked for a plain Vietnamese coffee, they said that chocolate milk makes it better but “I wasn’t ready for it”. I’d prefer giving me what I ask and pay for without the opinion. It made me feel as if they think the original viet food and drinks are inadequate, and needed “elevating”.

**Edit: The coffee was very authentic and tasted good. I would like to hope the interaction was purely a bad joke.

Absolutely fantastic coffee shop. They’re true to their roots, so be prepared to try what they have on offer. Don’t expect to get your regular. Delightful rhubarb pastry. Perhaps the best I’ve had in Santa Cruz. There was one person working who managed to keep it all afloat. She could have definitely used another hand because the people just kept coming. I got the basic espresso with whipped sugar cane. I almost walked away from this GEM of a coffee shop. I’m so glad I decided to go outside of my regular and try something new. We will be back. This is a special place. Photos are shared with permission of a few folks who look to be thoroughly enjoying their treats.

Maripose Coffee Bar is such a special gem to have here in Santa Cruz. Their fusion of Cuban and Vietnamese culture, recipes, and vibes elevate this place to a whole other level. You can just feel the love that’s put into everything they do. Watching this start as a little pop up and turn into the dreamy, peaceful, community full place it is today has been such a wonderful journey to be apart of. After living in Miami for a few years I was so sad to leave behind the Cuban coffee culture. I am so grateful to now be able to walk downtown and get my fix ! Cuban coffee is so special and I wish people would take more time to learn what it actually is. The staff at mariposa is very knowledgeable and always crafting these special coffees to perfection. I love all the new things they come out with and am always so excited to try them. Don’t even get me started on the food ! Ever since I had my first spring roll I was hooked ! All the ingredients are so fresh and seem to be made to order. Nothings premade and sitting around all day. Mariposa coffee bar reminds me to relax, take a breather, and just be in the moment. It’s always one of my more favorite parts of the week to walk and see all their friendly faces and get my coffee fix ! Thank you for all that you bring and do for this community! Emoji and I will always be your biggest fans ! ☕️

Had Bella bon bon coffee here – did not like it at all. Very small quantity – had double espresso but still tasted very sweet with some other after taste which did not sit well with me. Cup was also dirty.
