Relaxing, laid back, friendly place. Great food, great service. The crowd is middle aged and eclectic. The staff is awesome and works hard to take care of you. Live music and comedy has found a home here. Their pizza is the best we’ve found in Hampton Roads hands down!

We ordered a small supreme pizza with a side of anchovies. We waited a very long time. When it arrived the dough was not cooked enough, the toppings were thrown in the middle of the pizza . It was super soggy! We went to eat it but the waitress forgot to tell kitchen to put the anchovies on the side . Everyone makes mistakes but the pizza was inedible . We were very disappointed because we were really looking forward to an authentic Italian restaurant. The waitress was very nice; atmosphere was pleasant . The restaurant was not busy for a Friday night so we don’t understand why it took so long to get our pizza . The drinks were overpriced too! We paid for our over priced drinks and left . Went to another restaurant and had a great meal.

Excellent food, waitress we had for Red Hatters gathering in December is Best Ever! Chef was on point! And our evening was enjoyable for all. Music was great and management took very good care of our group. Can’t give enough accolades to this establishment. Would Highly recommend this place to Everyone!!!

My wife was staying in a physical rehabilitation facility in Portsmouth VA and wanted chicken fettuccine alfredo for dinner. We are not from the area so googled places nearby and came up with Amici’s/Maria’s Italian restaurant. I ordered for pickup the fettuccine dish, 1/2 chopped salad, and full-sized antipasti said. I happened to mention it was my wife’s birthday and this was her favorite meal.
I ordered it two hours early because of a delay in my arrival and when I arrived on time, our order was waiting for me. The hostess was super nice and helpful, (and attractive).
When I opened the order (which was piping hot) back with my wife, the restaurant had written HAPPY BIRTHDAY on the boxes and included a special treat for my wife. She was SUPREMELY BLESSED!
If you are looking for a great place that treats customers like royalty deserving the best Italian food, don’t go ANYWHERE ELSE!!

I love the older feel of the restaurant. The food and service were excellent. If you go, do not forget dessert – delicious. I feel the prices were a little steep, but not outrageous. I wish I had received bread with my pasta. Overall, it was a good experience and I will go back.

The food was fresh and fabulous. I had the Polo Chesapeake and my husband had the Chicken Marsala. Both dishes were excellent. The service was great and we loved the ambiance of the restaurant. We will definitely go back.

I’ve known Mario’s restaurant since I was a boy. They have the greatest Pizza you could ever have the food there is absolutely fantastic the atmosphere is great. The people are very friendly and it’s just a very nice place to retreat to when you want to relax and have a drink. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants good food good drinks and Good times

We had a class dinner tonight. All was as expected. There were about 25 of us. Food was superb. Service was excellent. Portions are so generous most of us brought food home. Prices are good for a good Italian restaurant. We never go anywhere else for our gatherings anymore.

This hometown restaurant is absolutely a place to visit if you are in Portsmouth! The upgraded renovations give more character to this local Italian style restaurant. Also their chef Gus I highly recommend, he has pride in his cooking, as well as priority of excellence with his dishes! I always stop in when I can! Many fine Italian recipes as well as homemade mouthwatering pies!
