We came in for beer and burgers a that is what we got. Great drink specials! My wife drank Yuengling for 2.75 per pint and I drank Bells Two Hearted for around 3.50 a pint. Our burgers were excellent; my only complaint was the bacon was super crispy (overly crispy for me).

I got the spicy burger and loved it…perfect spice with some added. We went with the fries and they were really good. I can’t say I would change anything. Service was impeccable and the environment was relaxed.

This will be on our list of places as a regular.

I come here all the time. It’s around the corner. Made good friends. Good vibes. Good music. But what really stands apart…. Is it’s the best bar food in the area of shadyside. And maybe even Pittsburgh. The burghers never fail. The appetizers are fresh and filling. The pizza is thin and fresh and crispy. It’s what got me to write this review.

I ordered six jumbo wings with garlic Parmesan and sweet potato fries, but when my meal arrived, I only received one jumbo wing. After trying one wing, which barely had any meat on it, I went to the bar to express my concerns since our waitress hadn’t returned. The bartender was dismissive and argued that the wings were fine, insisting they weighed them. I pointed out that only one was jumbo, and the rest were not. Frustrated, I asked to speak to the manager. When the manager arrived, I explained the issue. He offered to take the meal off the bill, but I was surprised that he didn’t offer a replacement. After waiting so long, I just wanted a satisfactory meal, but his response was, ‘What do you want?’ It felt like no one cared about the poor service or quality.

We were able to walk in on a Saturday evening with 19 people and readily get a great table for all of us. Good bar selection and food options. Service was efficient and personable. Food was tasty, albeit nothing special. Fun atmosphere. Nice to have a good place to drop in without a fuss.

Overall food was bland although the portions were generous. Sides are enough for several people.

Fun place, came for a night out with my friends while visiting Pittsburgh. The crowd is young, many students from nearby universities as well as people who just graduated and are in their young 20’s. This place was heated, so there was no need to wear my jacket the whole time and drinks were reasonably priced. Overall I had a good time at this Mario’s location.

We were just there on Sunday for the bills backer party. Tia was absolutely amazing!! She took care of the whole top floor and was excellent. Such an asset to your establishment. Great Bills backer bar!!!

Folks seeking the corner bar with plenty of sports and a long deep bar need look no further. This is your quintessential neighborhood spot, twisted to normcore clientele, group snackers, urban paramours, and good fellows. The staff seem to be traditional young women and gentle middle aged managers, giving the ambience and table-service extra spice. The menu is full of salty game grub and a valid selection of go-to beers. It’s a big, multi-level space with more than enough room for your needs: we hid away at a high-top table opening baseball cards and eating nachos, killing time on a late Sunday afternoon, in the fading light and traffic after a Steeler’s game.

Nut friendly establishment: I don’t think much of their bar food has nuts if any. I went for a larger event that booked out the top floor and our catered food had no nuts.

A cozy bar in Shadyside that is bigger on the inside than it looks. The first floor has a beer hall-like vibe with high tables to seat 2-4, and a bench with tables and chairs to seat 1-2. The bar is very long with a decently large well to mid-tier liquor selection There’s a raised area in the back with more seating.

Upstairs after a very narrow stairway are two more bar areas and tables for larger groups, including a large communal table. The heating upstairs is strong. There is nowhere to leave a jacket except on your chair, and you definitely won’t need one when all of the heaters are on. Electronics darts machines are present on both the first and second floor, costing $0.75/person/round.

There are nightly drink specials and a happy hour M-F 5-7PM. Normal beer prices are $4.25 for something like a Bud Light, $5.25 for mid-tier lagers like a blue moon, $6.25 for a draft craft beer like a local IPA, and $7.25 for stronger craft beers. I ordered a long island iced tea which was $7.50 and made reasonably well (a little light and diluted by too much ice).

The food was reasonably good bar food with the crab rangoons being a nice crispy surprise. The chicken fingers were better than Stack’d and also crispy. I didn’t try the pizza but it looked good.

Two major blunders happened while I was at Mario’s:
Firstly, I asked one of the bartenders if they had anything local on draft, and she said no. This was blatantly wrong as I noticed when I went back for a second round, as the Brotherly Love Hazy IPA is local enough to Pittsburgh. They also had several bottles of a local lager that was not the best.
Secondly, as we were starting a game of darts, the machine froze. We had to flag a bartender down to reset the machine, and they refused to refund us for the cost of the game. It’s a small amount but this rudeness in service was off-putting and we didn’t want to try to play another round if the machine would eat our money again.

Overall, a nice place to host events or grab a cheap drink during a special. Got a little full as I left around 9PM on a Friday, but there was still space available to be comfortable.

Students. Many students.
Got there at 8 pm to make sure we had a table and the place was quiet and empty. By 9:15 you could barely hear yourself think.

We had some so so drinks. Tater tots good snack but not great. Wings were good!

At the end of the night we wanted the check and despite searching for the server for 30 min, she was nowhere to be found. Both bars told us they couldn’t help. So we ended up reluctantly leaving without settling the tab (she had scanned our card). Annoying though is that she proceeded to take 20% gratuity! While she did a great job until vanishing, I would not have gone further than 10% at this point.
