I would probably give Marino’s 3.5 – 3.75 stars, but 3 is too low and I don’t wanna hurt their overall score. It’s a staple of downtown Cranford, and I’ve been coming here with my family for years. I just returned with my wife and toddler son for the first time in awhile and it’s exactly as I remember it. It has a tiny dining room with no more than 12 tables and a refrigerated display case with fresh fish and shellfish for sale as well. No bells and whistles, very adequate. The service is friendly and accommodating, but can get a bit forgetful when they get busy. The star of the show here is the fresh fish. Like the atmosphere, the food doesn’t have any frills, but it’s fresh, clean, and tasty. The scallops I had tonight were plump and firm, and my wife enjoyed her fish tacos very much. Marino’s is an enjoyable experience, especially if you know what to expect: fresh seafood in a basic and simple yet friendly atmosphere.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Maureen took care of our small group of 4. We enjoyed our lunch. The oreganato haddock was out of this world. The coffee was perfect too. I am hoping to come back here soon.

Staff and chef are very willing to please. Accommodated my mom’s special requests. Tasty and fresh. A bit pricey but who isn’t nowadays. Wish the place was a little bit bigger.

A must stop when back in my home town – clams oreganato, fried fish sando and a hari kari. Perfection.

Food was wonderful! 5 in our party ordered 5 different things and they were all amazing! Old style atmosphere, lovely service. So very old that the bathroom is in the basement, so NOT HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE even for those who walk with assistance. There’s no way they could improve that either. If you’re HANDICAPPED, order take out, because it’s wonderful food. Otherwise, absolutely perfect!

I got fish tacos and shrimp cocktail. My fish taco meal was EXCELLENT. Prepared beautifully and clean. Fresh seafood, and my family loves this place, they have been in Cranford for years serving such quality seafood. I had fish tacos several times and they were par this dish was a 10 and we did takeout

It’s definitely a hidden gem of the sea! It’s an old-time home cooked fresh quality seafood place. Very cozy, must place reservations asap. Love this place.

From what I’ve heard, Marino’s has been a landmark restaurant for many years. It could use a face-lift. The single bathroom is in the basement, although clean there was that musty basement odor. But the food was very good. I started with crab bisque, a little salty for me but loaded with crab and a silky texture. We shared a calamari appetizer. It was good. For entree two of us had the shrimp fra Diablo. The gravy was thick and flavorful with a little bite if heat. The shrimp was outstanding, this is the first time I’ve had this type of dish that had the tail shell removed. Goes to show the attention to detail. We all had dessert that the get from a bakery, not a mass produced product. I would definitely go back again.

Never been here, but BELIEVE ME, NEVER GOING!!! Entire family huge Fried Oyster fans! We thought we finally found a restaurant near us that served Fried Oysters! They have it all over their on=line menu on their website. 3 months prior (when I viewed their menu) I first saw Fried oysters on the menu. Since i have never been there I decided to call myself and check it out. When I called the lady I spoke with asked a gentleman in the background and I heard him tell her they did not have any Fried oysters at the time, but to take my phone # and they would call when they got them in. Never heard anything from them.

My wife and I went there for Valentines Day and let me first say the servers were really nice but the food was not good at all. The only thing we had that was ok was the buffalo shrimp. My wife had the swordfish and it was very chewy felt like it was a steak. I tried the spicy crab soup was very thick and salty. The server took it back and substituted for the New England Clam chowder which tasted a little better but still salty. For the Entree I had the Shrimp and Scallop Scampi which was very bland and not even hot. I did not want to send it back because I already sent the soup back.. But from my understanding this place is very old school and not looking to make any changes. This place is in need of some serious upgrades. My stomach is still hurting from the food..there prices are too expensive because it did match the quality of the food. Will Not be returning there.
