We have visited this restaurant a few times over the last 30 years. They do have very fresh seafood and the wait staff is very attentive. There is a nice 1970’s “local seaside restaurant” vibe here.
Sometimes I feel as if I’m dining in someone’s home here. Owner is very nice. The fish l’ve had is usually very good.

However – it is BYOB and NOT wheelchair accessible, as there is a large step at the entrance & very steep steps to the downstairs bathroom.

I would probably give Marino’s 3.5 – 3.75 stars, but 3 is too low and I don’t wanna hurt their overall score. It’s a staple of downtown Cranford, and I’ve been coming here with my family for years. I just returned with my wife and toddler son for the first time in awhile and it’s exactly as I remember it. It has a tiny dining room with no more than 12 tables and a refrigerated display case with fresh fish and shellfish for sale as well. No bells and whistles, very adequate. The service is friendly and accommodating, but can get a bit forgetful when they get busy. The star of the show here is the fresh fish. Like the atmosphere, the food doesn’t have any frills, but it’s fresh, clean, and tasty. The scallops I had tonight were plump and firm, and my wife enjoyed her fish tacos very much. Marino’s is an enjoyable experience, especially if you know what to expect: fresh seafood in a basic and simple yet friendly atmosphere.

Note about the pictures: tonight’s dinner was from Cranford’s restaurant week menu, so it may not reflect the normal a la carte portions.

Absolutely spectacular. I’ve been meaning to visit this place for years and now I’m so glad I did. It’s like going to visit a friend’s house. So welcoming, like being home. The food was fresh. Lots of options for seafood. Portions were resonab9. Not huge but sufficient. I would definitely recommend.

This is BYOB

No one mentioned in their reviews that this is a hole-in-the-wall and you’re transported back to 1978 when you walk in. Probably because the service is amazing and the food is so so fresh. We got the fried calamari with hot and sweet marinara sauce, shrimp cocktail, New England clam chowder, and for an entree I got the special’s scallop and shrimp scampi. Everything was amazing. I was especially impressed with how plump and fresh the shrimp were.

I just wish it had some sense of atmosphere…even just telling the chef to turn off his Top 40’s hits he was listening to in the back.

Had a great meal with my family here. Drove past probably hundreds of thousands of times. Loved the atmosphere. Great service. Excellent quality of the food. I’m glad I finally know what it looks like inside!!!! I’m a water person and a born and raised NJ local, the decor was exquisite. Here’s to many more generations of my family enjoying this special spot.

This was a delightful surprise. Across the street from the main stay is this little hole in the wall. It was small and cozy on the inside and I was expecting just fried stuff. I wanted to order all their specials, as they all sounded Delicious. The seafood soup was one of the best I’ve had, the crab cakes were excellent. I was pleasantly surprised with the Buffalo style shrimp. The beer batter cod was very good, and the seasoned salmon was excellent. I can’t wait to get back over there! I was just passing through on the way home from work.. Don’t miss this Gem ( if you love seafood)

Food was absolutely delish. Got the spicy crab soup. A smidge salty but that is me just knit picking. Very very good. Then got the muscles (spicy) not much spice and was really just red sauce on top but the muscles were fresh and large. Husband loved them. Then I got the shrimp and stuffed mushroom scampi and oh my LORD was this amazing. So fresh so good so much flavor and all in all just such a great dish. Husband got the stuffed flounder. Beyond amazing as well. First time here and really filled up prior to our meals which was unfortunate but still really enjoyed it. Secret little restaurant that will definitely become a regular date night spot!!

Wife and I have been dining at Maino’s for 30yrs. Mike, Richie and Maureen make it an institution. Small and quiet, the food is all natural and organic, and of course, delicious. Last night was the broiled seafood combo over scampi pasta. The smell alone is worth the visit. Best seafood around!

This was a quaint seafood restaurant with a truly local clientele, or at least it was at 2pm on a Friday. The Halibut special was memorable and the crab stuffed flounder impressed as well. The wait time for your food to be cooked to order is well worth it.
