We made the unfortunate choice of ordering takeout from here tonight. We called at 5pm to place our order, were told 30 mins and arrived at 5:35 for pickup.
Our order was NOT ready and the staff seemed to have no idea that our order existed. My husband went to the back area only to find 4 workers having themselves a lovely glass of wine. He then had to RE ORDER our food after someone asked “well what do you want?”
We then had to wait 15+ minutes for them to make our food. Only to get home (5 min drive) and have the pasta be congealed together.
I would’ve kept the bruschetta separate but instead they chose to plate it inside of the to go container so it looked like slop by the time we got home.
We have had this place on our want to try list forever and we won’t be back.
They had two tables of customers in the restaurant – a total of seven people.
When I asked one of the workers what happened to our order she said the ticket got lost in their system. Unsure what happened to the woman who took the phone call and didn’t realize for 35+ minutes that the order was not ready nor being prepared.

$8 for 2 meatballs. $7 slice of tiramisu. Don’t bother with the carbonara.

I took my folks here for dinner last night for an early Father’s Day celebration since this is our favorite Italian restaurant. We have been loyal Marinella’s fans for at least 30 years now and have followed them through 3 locations, and stuck with them since their change in ownership. Last night was just wonderful! They have a great patio area with ivy and fairy lights- and of course Italian themed music (Sinatra, Dean Martin, some Pavarotti). The baked clams are a MUST, I’ve had these many places but these are the best! The tortellini soup was also very good! I had the Pollo Picante which was excellent and came with a small side of pasta with red sauce! My folks both had pasta, Mom had calamari, Dad had shrimp. The food is excellent, flavorful, and the portions are large enough that I will have another full meal from the left overs. We split 2 pieces of tiramisu which was, naturally, delicious. Service was good, and the owner checked on us several times. If you live in the area you really should give this place a try for some amazing homemade Italian food!

Fantastic! I’d been past this restaurant a hundred times, but had never stopped in. What a miss on my part — everything was great. Service was attentive without being over the top…and the food was outstanding. Pasta, salmon, chicken. All great. A new star in our local restaurant mix! If you haven’t been here or haven’t been in a while go check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

Consistently a wonderful dining experience with the kindest, most attentive service and delicious food. I love the details that are put into every inch of the interior (i.e. paintings, murals, decor, etc) and I like that outside their patio is spacious. There is an older male server who makes the BEST drinks every single time. He is ALWAYS enthusiastic and proud of the Specials and knows exactly how to help you choose between two entrees based on what you have a taste for without hesitation. What sets him apart is that he is proud to talk about the options and is always full of energy and enthusiasm when it comes to the food – my kind of server! I have to say, it really boosts some liveliness to the restaurant- which is almost always filled with a slightly stiffer, older, 60+ crowd. One last note: I think the younger staff could use more training. . .

Marinellas is a place where you go, and you are treated as if they’ve known you for a lifetime. The staff are tremendously courteous, knowledgeable, and always there when you need something.
The outdoor patio space is one of the best hidden gems in Glen Ellyn, as you have all the benefits of eating outdoors in beautiful downtown Glen Ellyn, without all the traffic, noise and commotion of main Street.
On our last dining experience, we were floored by the salmon cake with its citrus glaze sauce. The panko breadcrumbs were crisp and firm yet perfectly light enough to not feel overwhelming bready. Cheese ravioli’s are always a favorite, and the caprisi salad is filled with everything a caprisi should be. The balsamic is top notch too.
Can’t say enough good things about Marinellas, and after you spend a meal there, I don’t think you’ll be able to either.
