️ What I Loved
Biryani: Easily one of the best in Frisco. The mutton biryani is fragrant, tender, and layered with real depth — not just spice for the sake of spice.
Parotta & Gravy: Soft, flaky, and exactly how a good parotta should be. Paired with their gravies, it’s comfort food at its finest.
Seafood: Their king fish fry and shrimp dishes are standouts. Fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked with care.
Service: Warm, quick, and attentive without hovering. It feels like they genuinely want you to enjoy your meal.
Overall
Marina is the kind of place you go when you want real flavor and a homely touch. It’s not flashy, but the food speaks for itself. If you love South Indian cuisine — especially biryani is a must try
The mutton korma was also on point but we’ve had better biryani but is ok since they are good at their specialities.
Lastly, I got carry out but the interior had a good vibe and theme. Everything looked clean and spacious. The staff were polite.
Nothing fake here — I’ve attached the receipt and photos of exactly what I ordered.
Service (Before Visiting)
When we called for an online order and requested a small favor, the response was rude and rough. If something isn’t possible, a simple “yes” or “no” is enough. Professional communication matters, especially when charging premium prices.
Because of the attitude on the call, I initially thought the restaurant must be extremely busy or popular — so I decided to visit in person.
️ Food Experience
• Paneer Kathi Roll:
Very average taste, nothing special at all.
Too much oil, not healthy, and definitely not worth the price.
• Biryani:
Honestly disappointing. It felt like food made for photos, not for taste.
The presentation looks okay, but the flavor is completely missing.
Price vs Quantity vs Quality
yet the total bill came to $50.
For $50, the quantity was extremely small.
We were four people, thinking it would be enough — but it finished in seconds.
It honestly felt like eating small bread pieces, not a proper meal.
If the quality was outstanding, quantity wouldn’t matter.
But when taste, quality, quantity, and service all fall short, the pricing feels unjustified. They are charging almost three times the value of what the food actually offers.
️ “Homestyle Indian Cuisine”?
They mention “homestyle Indian cuisine”, but this did not feel homestyle at all.
It felt more like average street food, without the taste or care that justifies the price.
Final Words
I drove all the way expecting something worthwhile.
As a Local Guide and Artist with a trustworthy profile, I post reviews only to help people avoid wasting money and time. You can verify everything through the photos and receipt I’ve shared.
This is a 100% genuine review.
Based on this experience, I do not recommend this place for these food items, and I suggest not making the drive for it.
As of January 19, 2025, this restaurant has 2,720 Google reviews with a 4.6 rating, which is the only reason my wife and I chose to come here for dinner tonight. After our experience, I honestly cannot understand how this place has anywhere near that score.
The restaurant itself is extremely modest—more like a small take-out lunch spot than a proper sit-down dinner restaurant. The décor is very basic, almost cafeteria-like, and nothing about the atmosphere suggests a highly rated dining experience.
The food was completely average at best. We ordered biryani rice, paneer butter masala, tandoori paneer, and butter naan. None of these dishes stood out in flavor, freshness, or quality. Nothing we ate deserved even a 4-star rating in my opinion. The paneer dishes were bland, the biryani was unremarkable, and the naan was forgettable.
What makes this even more disappointing is that there are far better Indian restaurants in the area—such as The Yellow Chilli and Panj Tara Indian & Bar—that serve consistently fresh, high-quality, and flavorful Indian food, yet they have fewer reviews and lower Google ratings. Based on my experience, the ratings for Marina Indian Restaurant simply do not align with the actual quality.
In my personal opinion, the overwhelming number of 5-star reviews does not reflect real customer experiences like mine. I felt genuinely misled by the rating.
I will never return to this restaurant, and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for good Indian food. There are much better options nearby.
Service was super quick and the portion sizes were generous, which made the meal even more enjoyable. We loved the way the chicken kebabs came sizzling to the table — the presentation of both the kebabs and the mushroom dish was impressive.
Just a small suggestion: it would be more convenient if sambhar was served in a proper bowl and the green chutney in a small reusable dish instead of a disposable one.
They also have a Dosa Night on Wednesdays with unlimited dosas, which is definitely worth trying!
Overall, a great spot with tasty food and efficient service — we’ll definitely be returning for the kebabs and sambhar!
To start off we were seated in an empty restaurant which was a bit off putting. After being seated my mom noticed the odd smell resonating with the table which I could confirm. In a few moments a gentleman came to take our order and didn’t know tamil which came as a big surprise to us but allowed my mom and I to talk poorly about the food right in front of their faces.
The first appetizer was the gobi manchurian which upon first bite tasted good including the fact that we haven’t eaten all day but upon our 3rd and 4th bite we grew distasteful of the food. There was no crisp to the gobi and the mushiness grossed me out. It’s like eating a crispy apple sauce and if that sounds appetizing to you then i suggest visiting a psychiatrist soon.
Following this I had the bai veetu biriyani which means house biriyani in english and if that is a representation of your crib i don’t want to be there ever again. Extremely bland biriyani and i suffered insane fatigue while eating this dish. I took sips of the water and it genuinely had more flavor than the biriyani itself. Absolutely terrible dish and as a person from chennai myself I can’t believe this restaurant claims to represent us. Miserable biriyani and the store owner needs to be interrogated for making and serving this.
I thought it couldn’t get worse but my god the samosa chat came out. It looked like cereal with no milk. When it was served I gasped and even shed a tear. The dish was so terrible that the server had to inform us that the actual chaat was under all the crisps and when i dug under the horror continued. It was just peas. I don’t eat vegetable and to just see 100s of peas made me want to vomit and cry in my mother’s arms. My mom laughed before realizing that this wasn’t a joke. She then cursed in tamil before crumbling the entirety of the restaurant with the snap of her fingers.
Lastly I had to find a server to ask for the check because I was so eager to leave. Absolutely terrible food and will never ever step into this restaurant ever again or within 3 miles of this place. Absolutely terrible and puts a bad name on the beautiful and dangerous city of chennai.
