In the Italian town of Bellochi-Fano, a baby girl was born. Bellochi-Fano, meaning “beautiful eyes,” is located in the province of Pesaro on the coast of Italy, east of Florence, overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Nobody knew then that this girl would come to America 18 years later. This beautiful-eyed baby, born July 15, 1905, is the very same Maria that opened Maria’s Restaurant in Braintree, Massachusetts.
Cheery murals deck the walls at this enduring source for hearty Greek, Italian & American classics.

Reviews
The planning process began with the owner, Zac, who was incredibly responsive, accommodating, and easy to work with. Organizing a milestone event can be stressful, but Zac made everything feel seamless and manageable.
When we arrived on the day of the party, Mandy and Gio greeted us warmly, and the room was beautifully set up and ready to go. The space itself was perfect for a private celebration — comfortable, inviting, and ideal for gathering family and friends.
Throughout the event, the staff was exceptional. Mandy was especially attentive and kind, frequently checking in on my mother to make sure she had everything she needed. Matteo went above and beyond handling the tech so we could play a video on the large screen TV without any issues, while still assisting guests throughout the afternoon. Gio kept everything running smoothly and ensured the event flowed effortlessly. Zac was also there overseeing that every detail was taken care of and checked in with me a few times to be sure I didn’t need anything.
They also accommodated dairy and gluten allergies without hesitation, which meant so much to our guests.
We absolutely loved hosting our celebration in Maria’s function room and would not hesitate to hold another event there. I highly recommend Maria’s for any special occasion — they truly made the day memorable.
Got the burrata which was good. Chicken marsala which was also good… Needed a little more flavor? My friend got shrimp scampi which had a ton of tomatoes.
We both got iced tea and it tasted like bottled nestle ice tea, which was frustrating.
Waited 15min or so after we were done to even see a serve to get a box to go. Looked like 1 server was running the whole restaurant and the manager was food running? I understand times are tough to get workers, it’s all good.
My friend looked over and while we were waiting, saw a mouse run across the floor of the dining room under our feet and run under another table and into the walls, and we saw one or two tails by the heating vents.
I felt like they were going to be running up our feet or something the entire time we sat there as we were against the wall…good neighborhood staple and I want them to be successful, but I probably wouldn’t be back any time soon. For similar pricing, I have local favorites that I know I can get consistent quality and service at.
Maria’s Trattoria is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with warm hospitality and the comforting aroma of authentic Italian cooking. The atmosphere is cozy, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed meal with family or friends.
The food is outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with love. Every dish tastes homemade, from the perfectly seasoned sauces to the tender pastas and beautifully prepared entrées. The portions are generous, and the presentation is excellent.
The service is exceptional as well. The staff is attentive, friendly, and genuinely cares about making your dining experience enjoyable.
If you’re looking for delicious, authentic Italian cuisine in a welcoming environment, Maria’s Trattoria is the place to go. Highly recommend!
Food was authentic and delicious, and the birthday candle for my husband was such a sweet touch. Definitely coming back… gotta support the neighbors!
Maria’s Trattoria has always been a clutch move. I started coming here in high school—usually on a date—when the place had a different look but the same heart. Family‑style dishes, warm smiles, and that mural on the wall that somehow made the whole room feel like a memory.
Today, the mural still stirs something in me, but everything else has been beautifully renovated and re‑imagined. The chef is a true magician, building Italian flavors in layers—notes that rise, settle, and surprise you with every bite. Nothing here is rushed. They take their time because doing it right is the point.
There’s a small function room downstairs for about fifteen and a larger space upstairs for bigger gatherings. The bar is modern and chic, with plenty of ales on tap, and the pizza—crunchy, quick, and deeply satisfying—is perfect for a casual stop‑in.
And the food… just look at the plates and you’ll understand. Then reevaluate your life choices and get yourself down there to savor the flavor.
My Top Picks
Wild Mushroom & Lobster Ravioli
Rich, aromatic, and layered with earthy depth and sweet ocean brightness. It’s the kind of dish that makes you pause mid‑conversation.
Arugula Salad with Crusted Parmigiana
Crisp greens, a bright lemon pop, and that perfect crunch from the cheese. Light, refreshing, and beautifully textured.
Chicken Parmigiana
This is where Maria’s shows its soul. The chicken arrives perfectly pounded, tender, and still juicy beneath a golden crust. The sauce isn’t just tomato—it’s a slow‑built symphony of garlic, basil, and sweetness, each note unfolding as you eat. The mozzarella melts into the edges, creating those caramelized corners that only happen when someone in the kitchen truly cares. It’s comfort, craft, and nostalgia on one plate.
Maria’s is still the throwback I remember, just elevated, refreshed, and ready for the next generation of stories.
The service overall was excellent, and when the food arrived, it was absolutely worth the wait. Situations like this can happen, but what really matters is how they are handled—and in this case, it was done perfectly.
We will definitely come back and happily recommend this place for both the quality of the service and the warm atmosphere.
