We were really excited to come eat here. We’ve lived in Texas for the past 30 years, but we grew up in Milwaukee, and Maria’s was one of our favorite pizza places as kids. We know it has changed hands since then, but we were looking forward to the nostalgia.
We ordered a mushroom and pepperoni pizza, and although the order was placed correctly, the mushrooms were missing when it came out. Our waitress did take the pizza back, but when it returned they just threw cold mushrooms randomly on top, along with some onions that we hadn’t ordered.
At that point, we didn’t feel it was worth complaining further. The way the situation was handled made it clear how issues are addressed here, so we just did our best to enjoy the meal.

My parents ate here when they were kids, and I’m 55 now! So it’s been around a long, long time. Every time we would travel to Milwaukee while I was growing up this was a must go spot. They have new owners now, but the kitschy vibe is the same and the pizza is like the same core memory of yesteryear. I was in Milwaukee for my uncle’s 90th birthday, with my mom, and we decided to check to see if they were still open. THEY WERE! And we were fat, and we were happy, and we ate ourselves silly and STILL had plenty of pizza to take home for late night snacks. It especially warmed my heart to see photos on the walls of the original staff that served us so many decades ago.

I was a little nervous since I haven’t been in since they reopened; however, Maria’s pizza is still an amazing Milwaukee pizza experience. Last time I was in they only accepted cash and had soda to drink. Now they accept cards and have alcohol! Although I abstained from the drinks, it was a nice option to know they have. The pizza came out like it always has: a large rectangle too big for the tray. The edges were nice and perfectly burnt, just like the old days. The staff was very nice, professional, and helpful with everything. The old school Jesus pictures are still on the walls as well to keep that nostalgic feeling. Thanks for a great experience!

I’ve been coming to this place for 47 years- my grandfather took me here and my mom used to take me here since I was born. I finally got a chance to come in with a new owners. I am so happy they’ve kept everything original. The pizza is actually a little bit better than it used to be. The service was wonderful and the place most perfectly charming inside an old school vintage pizzeria, the kind you can only get in the Midwest. I lived in New York City and the East Coast and Chicago and all over. This pizza is really really delicious. It’s unique it’s very thin and and there are a few pieces in the middle that are just a little floppy dash and that’s actually a compliment. The variety of textures, both thin and crispy and cheesy and soft or what makes this pizza very unique. The red ceiling, the red lights, the religious, and Jesus iconography on the walls make this place a set back in time. Currently they do not have alcohol or wine. Although I do wish they had nice crafts of wine. Maybe I’ll bring my own next time. I didn’t ask. Def love this place.

I’ve never been to Maria’s when the original owners were open. It’s my understanding that the new owners are using the original recipes. It’s a nice little restaurant with a few tables to eat in. It’s accessible, but you park on the street, and the entrance is in the front. Our waitress was very friendly, and the apps (garlic bread and eggplant sticks) arrived quickly and were delicious. We ordered the large special. Sausage, mushroom (canned), onion, green pepper, and black olive. The crust is very thin. The outer pieces are very crispy, in inner ones are not. It’s a basic thin, tomato sauce, with grated parm and a sprinkle of mozzerella before the toppings are put on.

So good. If you like thin crust, this is definitely the pizza for you. Large sausage, mushroom and onion cooked in. The cheesy bread and mozzarella sticks were good. My daughter made us get an extra order of cheesy bread to go.

So , I was a huge fan a few years ago. Since it sold I’ve tried it twice and it SUX! When you have a cracker crust you 100% do not use canned chopped mushrooms and onions!!!! AND the sausage was also little tiny bits..The PB and J was always,,the sauce,the crust and a great ratio of toppings. It used to be normal sliced mushrooms, Thin sliced onions, and most importantly the cracker crust. Since they are using canned “Soaked in water toppings” The crust is friggen soggy cardboard and tastes Horrible I was hopping for my traditional Maria’s, This was so far off the mark . How do they fix this! Fresh cut toppings and a little bit more sauce. The garbage canned crap your putting on these is leeching all the water into the pie. I had to throw the Pizza away after 3 PCs. And I’m a No survivors eater. I wish I did not have this review. This was the worst pizza I have had in 6 yrs.

This may be the worst pizza I’ve ever had; it amazes me that they’re still in business. Every ingredient was bland, the crust was burnt on the edges and soggy in the middle, the canned mushrooms and raw onion appeared to have been put on after the pizza came out of the oven due to the fact that they weren’t cooked in the slightest and barely warm. 0/10 would not recommend

Went to check out the Hype at Maria’s Pizza. This was a different pizza experience without a doubt.
Unsure of sure what’s in their pizza sauce or what should be in their pizza sauce. Either way, something is definitely missing in their sauce.
The pizza sauce was very sparingly placed, very runny and had no flavor.
With the minimal amount of sauce, there was nothing between the crust and top layer holding the pizza together causing the toppings to completely fall off.
In some areas it was sauceless, other areas it was runny almost like the sauce was diluted.
The outer edge of the pizza was burnt, center of the pizza crust soft. Not sure if the ovens weren’t working properly, but I definitely won’t be returning.

One of the most horrible experiences I’ve ever had in my life regarding Pizza. The pizza was terrible. The outside was burnt. The inside was raw. As we sat there eating the pizza, the venue started getting so cold that we had to put our coats on. The waitress came over and said that they had to open the doors in the back by the kitchen because it was so hot there. We, the customers, were freezing. Do not go to Maria’s pizza. Total waste of your money. We wanted a salad to share. They ran out of salad items. It was 5 o’clock in the afternoon. The only good thing about the restaurant was the waitress. She was kind, attentive and apologetic for us having to put our winter coats on while we ate.
