Maria’s is locally owned and operated by the Crapa Family since 2007.Back then, the Family just moved to the USA . Because of their strong love for food, their dream was to open a restaurant and share their favorite Sicilian dishes with Americans. The perfect opportunity came when they met two wonderful people, Jim & Melinda, whom offered to help them get started. Maria’s was therefore born right in the heart of Old Town Petersburg.

I tend to think that the only real reason to leave reviews is for either exceptional or exceptionally poor service. This is DEFINITELY the former. The food, service, and atmosphere were all *literally* excellent. We had 2 beers, 2 entrees (Farfalle Allo Scollio and Mushroom Ravioli) with Caesar salads. They bring out this focaccia bread that’s just… lovely. Even bursting at the seams as we were, we felt a little envy at the neighboring table’s berry salad. Seems like there’s a Michelin star chef just casually hanging out in the back of this kitchen…
Highly recommend. Spent $35 per person and that was being indulgent. Enjoy!

I’ve been here over 12 times now over the years and more so recently. Excellent customer service. Delicious food. I love the pizza, gelato, hamburger, and ciabattas! I wasn’t a huge fan of the crab mushrooms though, the cheese on it wasn’t the right flavor with the crab and made my stomach hurt. Pizza with artichokes is a great go to. Love the regular and especially decaf coffee as well!! Don’t change a thing with that please

A must visit if you’re in town! Fantastic service, plenty of seating, Gelato next door, do I need to say more. We ordered a deluxe pizza and a Panzerotti turn over pizza as well as the special arancini rice balls! Delicious! Crust was flavored and cooked to perfection! We had an excellent waiter! Easily seated and no wait late afternoon on a stairway and accessible street parking without any issues! Would definitely come back!

We made a call out order passing through town, and put the order in virtually. A few minutes later we got a phone call and it was the restaurant asking if we had done it correctly because we had eliminated many toppings that come with the item we ordered. OOOPS! He was right! We accidentally eliminated the items we wanted instead of selecting them. So thoughtful for them to call us because otherwise our item would have had cheese and onion only. Showed up to the restaurant and the vibe was off the charts. They quickly attended to us as we overheard around 30 folks leaving the restaurant talking about how good the food was. They loved it. Got our food, took pics of the restaurant and went to eat in the car because we had to hit the road. Wow. It was insanely delicious! So fresh and flavorful. We are now planning a weekend trip to Petersburg around this restaurant

If you’re looking for authentic Italian food then look no further than the Historic part of Petersburg. Maria’s Old Town 21 is simply perfect for any time of day. From the patio to the front door is charming and then when you enter, you will find a bar that will equal or better any in NYC or DC. Walk further in and you will feel like you have just walked in to an Italian Pizza. The food is wonderful, and the staff and owners are lovely. I have been back twice now and the hardest thing is deciding what to eat. The decor is second to none and the ambiance is perfect for any occasion. Whether you are eating alone or a large party, they are able to accommodate you. Parking is on the street, or there is parking behind or a close by parking lot. Do not hesitate to go here, you will not be disappointed. This is now one of my go to restaurants.

My baked Sicilian Spaghetti was an excellent choice and the leftovers made for a great midnight snack !! The restaurant is ginormous with many different sized rooms and lots of catering options. The bar is huge and inviting with a good beer and mixed drink offering. Murals adorn most walls in keeping with the warm Italian feel. An excellent dining choice in downtown Petersburg!

Went to lunch with some of my amazing business partners! This is a very large space with outside seating as well as, in door dining. The waiter was new, but was very polite! Everyone in the bar went above and beyond to give us 5 star treatment! Will definitely come back to enjoy more food items!

Our group of 15 was the first for dinner that evening. After a round of drinks, we ordered as another larger party (40?) and smaller parties were seated. The food and service were excellent… right until our server (the only one?…how?) dedicated herself to the larger group. It was difficult to find anyone to refresh drinks or provide dessert. We waited 45 minutes for our checks and had to distribute them to ourselves. We found someone who could cash us out and rather than wait at the table, we stood in a line at the server’s station. They were nice and we enjoyed our server but she was a one woman show with little support. We tipped HER and the person who helped in the end.
To clarify, the problem was not the size of our group or any other. The problem was only one server. Waiting for ANYONE to visit our table for 45 mins to check on us is unacceptable.
