We were visiting from out of town and stopped in to try! Wow, smelled amazing from the moment we walked in the door!
We walked in right after they opened at 5 and were greeted promptly. Decor was modern with a rustic vibe. There were specials on the board near the front register and cases filled with authentic Italian desserts!
We had a decently large number of guests in our party, but drinks, salads and entrees were served promptly. Salads were fabulous!The gnocchi and vodka sauce was the best I’ve had locally! My child enjoyed the ravioli and we all really enjoyed our (primarily) pasta meals! The tiramisu and a cannoli were equally delicious and we really felt this place was possibly a hidden gem? I hope not! Reviews were already glowing but we wanted to share our thoughts and experience, too! Please support this local Italian spot, we can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely love this place!! Small hidden gem! Everything is delicious and fresh. They bring bread out to the table when you arrive and have infused olive oil, parmesan, and pepper on the table so you can dip your bread. The wine is outstanding and compliments the food perfectly. Vodka sauce is the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Service is always wonderful. Can’t recommend this place enough.

I don’t think i’ve had an experience such as the one i’ve felt at Maria’s Little Italy. the atmosphere as soon as i walked in felt like a place i’ve known my entire life, like a warm hug. the service was literally the best i’ve received since i’ve started going out to sit down restaurants. the food is easily a 10/10, nothing i tried was less than a 10. this is the kind of restaurant i wish was everywhere.

After sitting, they brought bread, water, and a small plate with silverware to my table. The server then let me know the specials. Service was amazing and they made sure my water stayed full. I ordered one of the specials, as written on my receipt “chicken satim bocca” it came with a side salad. The salad was good. The meal was absolutely amazing. From the chicken, topings, and sauce to the noodles. It was SO delicious. Unfortunately for me it was way more food than I could eat in a serving. Then I ordered a canoli for dessert, that too was delicious!
If I make it back to Dekalb I will definitely be here again!

This little restaurant is a gem. The house dressing is delicious. The bread was fresh and they have Real butter on the table.
They don’t take your order at your table. You go up to the counter to order your food and they bring it to you. The service is good. They check back with you quite regularly.
I’m sorry I didn’t get a photo of my fettuccine Alfredo before I started eating it. I got it with Italian sausage. I cannot say enough about how delicious the sausage was. It was crispy on the outside… tender and tasty on the inside.

Love that the space isn’t so huge but rather cozy, and that the lights are a soft yellow instead of the bright white florescent. Also, Courtney was so sweet and doubled checked to make sure she had our gluten free order right. Overall, very happy with what we got

I can’t say enough good things about Maria’s. Fresh, delicious homemade food. Easily one of the best restaurants in DeKalb/Sycamore. I’m kicking myself that I didn’t go sooner. Friendly waitstaff and FANTASTIC Italian! We got to meet Maria herself whose passion for her craft shows in her dishes. Food made with love just tastes better!

Our first time here. Was expecting more per the reviews. The pizza crust was hard and tacky and it tasted dry from not enough sauce. The spinach salad was okay if not a bit short on portion size. Ditto for the appetizer. The food arrived about 30 minutes after we ordered for two people. After we got the food, the server never checked on us and we had to flag her down to get some refills on water. Overall we were kind of underwhelmed. Likely will not return.
