Remembered this place from an ealier visit and knew the service was outstanding as well as the food. The morning after my arrival I drove an hour from Galveston for 6 a.m. breakfast and was welcomed very friendly by Amanda at that early hour. The barbacoa plate I ordered was very tasteful and even better than expected. Well worth the drive and the breakfast was a great start of the day watching the sun rise over the Gulf afterwards as a nice bonus. Recommended

Disappointing experience at Maria’s Kitchen.

The server seemed indifferent, but it was the manager’s attitude that really took the cake. I brought in a drink from Bucky’s because I apparently wanted it to get warm in the sweltering heat in my car, and somehow that was a huge offense. The manager was rude and unwelcoming, making me question whether I wanted to stay and spend my money there. To top it off, the food was mediocre – lacking flavor and with sauces that were more like bland tomato puree than anything exciting.

Wouldn’t recommend this place. There are plenty of other great options in the area that actually care about customer service and serve decent food. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere. Avoid Maria’s Kitchen and explore better alternatives.

This restaurant has been a round while in Freeport, but since it’s a little out of our way, when I do visit home (Clute) I don’t go there often when I visit. In fact, it’s been several years since I’ve been there. After our long road trip we woke up the next morning and came here for breakfast. My dad and brothers come here regularly because they live in the Richwood and Lake Jackson area, and like the food. My dad especially likes the green sauce. Our waitress was extremely kind and took our orders quickly, filled our coffee regularly, and made sure we had more than enough green sauce for our food. The food came out quickly and was very good. I ordered the Hippo in a bowl (no tortilla). Very tasty, and the green sauce was just the right amount of heat to it. It’s a very clean restaurant with plenty of seating, and I would highly recommend it.

We were in from out of town, from both Detroit and Las Vegas, and the breakfast tacos here were as good as any I can remember. They were simply smashing. They had fresh jalapeños, perfect refried beans, and freshly made tortillas.

“Amber” was about as good as a server can get. She was so friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.

I ordered the nacho plate for lunch and it wasn’t very big and when I got the bill it was $21. Needless to say I won’t be coming back… to expensive for my blood…

Presentation was nice..unfortunately that’s where it ended. Everything was so salty it was inedible. That’s sad because this was one of our hometown go to’s. Quality and attention to flavor detail has definitely suffered.

The food was great BUT the service was beyond terrible! We walked in and the lady with the blonde ponytail looked at us like we were lost and asked if “she could help us” with an attitude. She was very rude.
