I was a little skeptical at first. Most country food places don’t use a ton of seasonings. But man was I wrong! I ordered 5 plates of food, 2 fried chicken, 1 hamburger steak, 1 veg plate and 1 country fried steak plate. Very reasonably priced and amazing food overall. The food was really seasoned and so so good! Will definitely be back in the future!

I have been waiting to try this restaurant put. I had not heard anything about the food yet. I tried it today and the food is amazing. I got a hamburger steak and it was cooked to perfection, I got slaw, mashed potatoes{a must), macaroni and cheese, okra , and black eyed peas, corn bread came with it. The slaw is a sweet slaw that I normally do not care for, it was very tasty and not overwhelming sweet.My daughter got the pepe nachos. She loved it. My grandson got the changer finger plate with mexican rice. I did try a piece of the breading from the chicken and it was so crispy and good.

Was definitely visiting with high expectations after hearing such great things, but was unfortunately disappointed. We only saw our server when our drinks were brought out and when we finally received our food. We had to go find someone in order to get our bill. Our server was fairly polite though. Please note, it was not busy. Took a very long time to get our food. The food was very hit or miss. The mashed potatoes, tacos, black eye peas, and queso was all very bland with no flavor. The country fried steak was good and the sweet potato fries were good, so it wasn’t all terrible. It was clean and was comfortable atmosphere, but was a little warm. I will also add, that there was no changing table in the bathrooms, which was unfortunate since I ended up having to change my son on the toilet lid… I’m on the fence about revisiting for a second opinion.

Came in the restaurant is cute with a warm and inviting environment. The server was delightful. My drink was always full. We had a burger and pasta tonight. The burger was fresh hand pattied with a homemade bun. So fresh! The pasta was a sweet thia with shrimp. Holy wow! So sweet and spicy. Fresh veggies and delicious pasta! The ribs will make your heart sing.This is a gem for our community! They are family run and they take pride in everything. Maria puts her heart into everything she prepares.

Y’all. Go to this place!!! Maria’s is amazing. We stopped by there on our way back to Athens after hiking at Panther Creek. I got the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and collards, plus an extra side of black eyed peas since it is New Year’s Day. My boo got the meatloaf sandwich and fried okra. Everything was delicious, well-cooked, arrived hot, and very generous portion sizes.

Their sweet tea is amazing! Some notes on their menu, when it says rice it is Spanish style and gravy is between brown or white and if it comes with tortillas they are corn. The country fried steak was so tough and chewy you could hardly cut it even with a knife. The steak was big chunks so overcooked I couldn’t cut them and even using my hands it was difficult. The spaghetti dish from the kids menu was very tomato tasting and they didn’t salt the pasta. I have seen so many positive reviews for this restaurant here maybe this was an off night:
