It’s Tuesday, and that meant tacos… or in this case, taquitos
I ordered the 3 chicken taquito plate and—holy yum! Plenty of fresh guacamole, cotija cheese, crisp lettuce, and sour cream. The beans and rice were flavorful and delicious, not just an afterthought.

But the salsa? It completely exceeded my heat expectations, and I loved every bite.

Maria’s Grille has officially been added to my Downey go-to spots. Highly recommend!

And I cheated and ordered delivery

I honestly love this place! It’s the best Mexican food in south east LA in my opinion. Molcajete is to die for! Salsa is addictive! Service is beyond good. Environment was lively with games played on multiple screens. Clean, bright and welcoming. Owners are always hospitable and fun to interact with. Go here, but save a table for me 🙂

Good home cooked Mexican food ! Looking for authentic Mexican food with ice cold beer, Maria’s is a good place to try. This place can get crowded, especially during a Dodger game. Hadn’t been here in a while, boy I wonder how I could forget how good a meal is here.

Wet burrito. Not worth the stop no more! Been eating here since it was Esters taco house. Maria’s/Esters was always a must stop when visiting, but now the quality just isn’t the same. They have a special note “50, since the 50s” but it is not. Trying to incorporate new style tastes and keep quality from the past just isn’t working. The burritos used to be so good. Packed with meat in and on top with good refried beans melting cheese, now you get a mediocre burrito with dry meat and pinto beans. A wasted stop before I leave town. Also the micheladas weren’t even good this time, we’re better during Covid.
