Long standing sub shop only they make only one kind of sub basically an Italian with hot peppers (you can hold them they did for me) essentially salami mix cheese melted on toasted (inside) freshly made roll. Onions lettuce tomato and come in whole or half. Whole was 13 dollars. Its counter only so call first and it will be ready in 15 minutes. Otherwise you wait outside. No indoor seating. For the price I was happy with it.

59 years! That’s how long they’ve been making this ONE COOKED ITALIAN sub…8″ or 16″ hot and ready with fresh veggies in about 10 minutes. The location can be a pain sometimes depending on time of day but definitely worth a try!

Marian’s Submarine Sandwiches: A One-Sandwich Wonder Worth the Hype

When a good friend tells you about a sandwich shop that has only one thing on the menu and doesn’t let you tweak it much, you pay attention. As a self-proclaimed submarine sandwich connoisseur, I knew I had to check it out. Ruskin, Florida, was a new city for me, and Marian’s Submarine Sandwiches became my latest adventure in the never-ending quest for the perfect sub. Spoiler alert: it did not disappoint.

Walking into Marian’s is like stepping into a shrine for submarine sandwiches. The aroma hits you first—a medley of fresh bread, savory deli meats, and just the right hint of vinegar and oil. It’s like the scent equivalent of a bear hug from a sandwich. Inside, there’s no room for lingering; no tables, no frills. Just grab your sub, find a spot on the outdoor bench, and dive in.

The service? Stellar. They greeted me with the kind of enthusiasm that says, “You’re about to eat the best thing in Ruskin.” And they weren’t wrong. The sandwich itself? A masterpiece. Crusty bread with a soft interior cradled layers of perfectly balanced deli meats, cheese, fresh veggies, and (surprise!) hot peppers. Heads up—if you don’t explicitly ask them to leave off the hot peppers, you will get them. Luckily, I love a little spice, so those peppers felt like the cherry on top of my submarine sundae.

This one-sandwich, no-frills approach isn’t just a gimmick; it’s a power move. Marian’s knows they’ve perfected their craft, so why bother with options? It’s like the sandwich version of a mic drop.

I owe a big thank-you to my friend for the recommendation. Marian’s now has a solid spot in my sandwich hall of fame. If you’re ever in Ruskin and want a sub that punches above its weight class, Marian’s is the place to go. Just don’t be that person who asks for gluten-free bread or kale—stick to the program, enjoy the magic, and maybe pack some antacids if you’re not a hot pepper fan.

Will I be back? Absolutely. Marian’s isn’t just a sandwich shop; it’s a submarine-sized experience. Another checkmark on my submarine sandwich bucket list, and this one’s a keeper.

The absolute best and a great childhood staple. Delicious sandwich. I reside in Clearwater and have to stop in every time im over, sometimes just make the trip and fight the traffic for the sandwich.

They only sell 1 sub. Yes, you heard that correct… 1 sub. I think it’s salami, ham and something else with mozzarella cheese. Don’t take my word for it. They have only sold 1 sub for 56yrs. That’s the epitome of keeping it simple!! They have condiments also. Like lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, peppers. I think you can have it cold or toasted. It was delicious. I’d recommend it to anyone. The sub was huge and filling. It was just under $12 for a whole sub but they did sell a half as well. Great price!!

Best sub if you like Italian subs. That is all they make and they do it well. 1 large and you have lunch and supper! It is a small shop but they have picnic tables under cover to eat at. Try the fresh seafood store across the parking lot

Interesting little spot. After driving by this place a thousand times I finally made the stop to try it out. I was unaware that it’s a one sandwich shop before entering. The girl behind the counter rudely gave me the breakdown on the sandwich as if she was tired of having to explain it to the “out of towners” that stop in. So it’s an Italian sandwich with the usual ingredients then some sort of pepper mix, oil and vinegar, and bologna. It only comes one way and they have no mayo or mustard available. The sandwich was actually pretty tasty, I’m giving it three stars due to the rude service, bologna, and lack of options. It is reasonably priced at $9 for a huge sandwich. Try it, just bring your own mayo and mustard packets and don’t ask any questions.

Third time – gave it a chance. So many better subs in the area this business model sucks. Ordered today and told to wait outside for 15 minutes. Everything about this place is just ok – nothing special. Sub also is just ok. Won’t be back
