Marian’s has a cool vibe and is an upscale choice for vegan diners. We visited on a Sunday night and they appeared to be understaffed. That led to a delay in getting seated and served.

The restaurant has a short but very well curated wine list. I noticed one of my favorite Pinot Noirs from Patagonia.

Among the craft cocktails tried were the Autumn Orchard Fiz and the Crimson Herb. The Crimson Herb featured gin and cranberry and torched sage. The fiz had pear nectar and elderflower extract along with Prosecco. Both drinks were tasty but the Prosecco was flat.

Entrees included rigatoni with vodka sauce, cedar plank “salmon,” Mac and cheese with “brisket” and country fried “steak.” I also enjoyed a cup of French onion soup.

The food was outstanding. The mac and cheese was our top choice and the salmon also got plenty of accolades.

This is a totally vegan restaurant, so the dishes are artfully crafted with ingredients in line with this cuisine.

There is a great outdoor seating area, which would be super for people-watching on Glenwood in warmer weather.

We enthusiastically recommend Marian’s.

Every part of the experience was amazing—the restaurant’s location and ambiance, the service, and, of course, the food. We ordered the Oshi vegan salmon filet (one as an entrée and another on a salad), and both were fantastic. The French onion soup was among the best we’ve ever had—an opinion shared by both the vegans and non-vegans in our group. We also tried the steak and potatoes and a chick’n sandwich, and every plate was cleaned. Highly recommend.

I couldn’t give this place more stars. The food was excellent, and the service was spectacular. As soon as we were done with plates, they were off the table. Water was refilled immediately. Food was so fast and came out one right after the other (that’s how we ordered it). Went for our anniversary and it was a perfect dinner. Will definitely be going back. Shared the small bread, caviar, blooming onion and ribs.

Update: went back and got the brisket Mac and cheese and salmon. The salmon was so good I thought it was real salmon on the first bite!!

A friend recommended this place for us to check out for weekend brunch because she knows that I am vegan and gluten free. I hadn’t heard of it yet but was very excited to check it out. And we were both so happy that we did!

Not only did I get to speak with the owner, Layla, herself but the whole experience was phenomenal! Not only is she a wealth of knowledge and very happy to help with any dietary restrictions. She is very passionate about this restaurant and what they are doing with regards to elevating plant-based food to a whole other level.

The ambiance in the restaurant very cool! She did a great job with everything down to the plates and glassware all the way up to all of the different plants hanging from the ceiling.

While the menu is not labeled with gluten-free options, you can ask your server and they’ll tell you which ones can be made gluten-free or what alternatives are, which is very helpful.

Layla spoke to us about this amazing salmon they have that’s made out of red algae. So even though it wasn’t on the brunch menu, we asked for just a side of it so we could share it and try it. It tastes exactly like delicious salmon! You have definitely got to try this, even if you don’t go there for anything else.

I then got the breakfast croissant, but swapped out that croissant for a gluten-free bun. The Bacun they have on the sandwich is also made from red algae. I haven’t had bacon in well over 30 years, but my friend said it tastes exactly like really delicious bacon.

I then got the Bananas Foster for dessert, which was adorned with strawberries because they were out of fresh bananas. It is one of the moistest cakes I have ever had. The drinks were also absolutely delicious!

So if you have not come by this place yet, you have definitely got to check it out, whether you are plant-based or not!

Excellent experience here! Wonderful cocktails (though sometimes surprisingly savory) and food was very tasty. The breading on the vegan chicken is incredible! Will be going back for sure. Didn’t think I needed a reservation on a Friday though as it wasn’t that busy.

If I lived in downtown, I’d be walking to this restaurant several times a week! So delicious, even my omnivorous husband loved both sandwiches we ordered. If you’ve been trying to find a cute vegan restaurant with great food options and fun cocktails, look no further! I can’t wait to come back and try their brunch!

Have you ever had a restaurant experience where each course was so delicious, imaginative, and beautiful that you wished the meal never had to end? That was my experience at Marian. Our server was so friendly and helpful, and each dish we were served was plated with so many elegant details –edible flower garnishes on the sorbet flight, vegan caviar with the bruschetta, and incredibly flavorful herb butter with the bread basket, just to name a few. I can’t wait to try more of the menu. Thanks to the owners, chef, and staff for offering such a special place to dine.

The customer service was top tier. Super friendly guy who catered to my every little need. I should have asked his name, but he’s a caucasian male and was on duty around 1ish on 09/18/2025. Give him a raise. It was so clean and cute inside, the food was good too.

This is an absolutely incredible spot. We’re not even fully plant-based eaters, we just like eating great food. And let me say, this place serves delightful, inventive, and delicious food. We had the caviar service and bread service to start; the caviar service was the kind of dish that made me want to get more inventive in my own kitchen. The we had the rigatoni and chilaquiles and absolutely cleaned our plates. We wrapped up with the Tortuga a la mode. All the while we had cocktails and wine and the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was wonderful. We’re new to the Raleigh area, having moved down here just a few months ago, so it’s probably too soon to say that this will be my favorite spot….but we’ve eaten all over the country and the world and, well, this was one of our favorite meals. It was just surprising and creative, which is really the sign of an incredible place.
