The restaurant has a short but very well curated wine list. I noticed one of my favorite Pinot Noirs from Patagonia.
Among the craft cocktails tried were the Autumn Orchard Fiz and the Crimson Herb. The Crimson Herb featured gin and cranberry and torched sage. The fiz had pear nectar and elderflower extract along with Prosecco. Both drinks were tasty but the Prosecco was flat.
Entrees included rigatoni with vodka sauce, cedar plank “salmon,” Mac and cheese with “brisket” and country fried “steak.” I also enjoyed a cup of French onion soup.
The food was outstanding. The mac and cheese was our top choice and the salmon also got plenty of accolades.
This is a totally vegan restaurant, so the dishes are artfully crafted with ingredients in line with this cuisine.
There is a great outdoor seating area, which would be super for people-watching on Glenwood in warmer weather.
We enthusiastically recommend Marian’s.
Update: went back and got the brisket Mac and cheese and salmon. The salmon was so good I thought it was real salmon on the first bite!!
Not only did I get to speak with the owner, Layla, herself but the whole experience was phenomenal! Not only is she a wealth of knowledge and very happy to help with any dietary restrictions. She is very passionate about this restaurant and what they are doing with regards to elevating plant-based food to a whole other level.
The ambiance in the restaurant very cool! She did a great job with everything down to the plates and glassware all the way up to all of the different plants hanging from the ceiling.
While the menu is not labeled with gluten-free options, you can ask your server and they’ll tell you which ones can be made gluten-free or what alternatives are, which is very helpful.
Layla spoke to us about this amazing salmon they have that’s made out of red algae. So even though it wasn’t on the brunch menu, we asked for just a side of it so we could share it and try it. It tastes exactly like delicious salmon! You have definitely got to try this, even if you don’t go there for anything else.
I then got the breakfast croissant, but swapped out that croissant for a gluten-free bun. The Bacun they have on the sandwich is also made from red algae. I haven’t had bacon in well over 30 years, but my friend said it tastes exactly like really delicious bacon.
I then got the Bananas Foster for dessert, which was adorned with strawberries because they were out of fresh bananas. It is one of the moistest cakes I have ever had. The drinks were also absolutely delicious!
So if you have not come by this place yet, you have definitely got to check it out, whether you are plant-based or not!
