The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the food was fantastic. I had the Asada Burrito with steak and it brought me back to the Carne Asada Burritos I used to get as a kid from that whole in the wall run by the guy with all the gold chains. Fantastic food! The presentation of the burrito was top notch. Cut in half so you can see the goodness inside, with a green onion on top and a scoop of pico and guac. A+ on presentation.
The chips and salsa were delicious as well, not too oily like some places. They provide one basket complimentary and additional ones are $1, which is unusual but not bad.
The menu has a lot of variety. What’s neat about the menu is that it starts off with the story of the founder and her desire to have her own Mexican restaurant.
One thing to note, is the prices in the menu are cash prices. There is a surcharge for using a credit card, which is becoming more and more common up here and is extremely common in restaurants and shops in other parts of the state. So bring cash and save!
Definitely a place I’d happily recommend and it’s great to finally have a _good_ sit down Mexican restaurant in Thousand Oaks again. Can’t wait to bring the family back and to try their salad. I hear great things about it.
7-22-22: I no longer live next door to Margaritas restaurant, but it is worth the drive to come dine there from time to time. I came tonight to check out their happy hour menu, but ended up getting an entree instead, and it was FABULOUS! I got the Carnitas Sarape and it was delicious! The best carnitas I’ve ever had. What is great about Margaritas is that it uses traditional family recipes that are out of this world. My server “Antonio” was also great, offering some wonderful suggestions and being just attentive enough to allow me to enjoy me meal peacefully, while enjoying the outdoor patio ❤️
Lastly, as many restaurants have had to do in these post-Covid times, Margarita’s has had to raise their prices, including those on their Happy Hour menu. Regardless, this restaurant offers dishes with delicious and unique flavors unlike any I’ve encountered elsewhere. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the mood for some “South of the border” flavors
They may be a small and relatively unnoticed spot but they are so worth it. They have friendly staff that’s happy to give recommendations, absolutely huge portion sizes, delicious plates, and a nice assortment of strong drinks as well – the La Paloma is my personal favorite.
Plus, Pedro my waiter ..ain’t to shabby either. Great service and food etc..
